on the LCR and any others with the same transmission, have you crunched into gears like prone 3rd gear when pushing on hard and fast?

yes, i always thought it was just me being lazy but actually reading up it seems to be something to do with synchro mesh or something (may have just completely made that up :)).

apparently, using redline mt-90 gearbox oil will help to stop this and make your gearbox last longer!

i know VAG gearbox's are notchy, but my 3rd gear is prone to it, if i try to shift too quickly, have to hang on to clutch and revs drop for a little longer (second or two)

redline mt-90 gearbox oil, you say. will read up about it. think it's a short measure.

i know a few have had gearbox rebuilt (technical bit i don't know)
can live with it, but not good really

Yup - again I thought I was just being keen with the gears and not getting the clutch in quick enough, but maybe it's not me after all!

I found second to be the problem sometimes. I thought it was my leg/arm coordination not being right!

Not an lcr, but same as, 2nd seems to be my bugbear, when trying to get a quick getaway, i sometimes can't even get into 2nd.... i thought it was me being too lazy on the clutch

Me too! It hasn't happened since fitting the EIP short shift though ;)

Non lcr although cupra.

Sounds Interesting reason to spend money on short shift!

I also get a slight crunch is there a known fix for this problem adjustment on linkage etc if so any guides?

I've had this happen once or twice. Both times I've put it down to being too aggressive, but it only ever happens in 3rd to me!

Well I've had Redline MTL (slightly thinner than MT-90) in my LC for nearly 4 years. Fixed my 1st to 2nd 'in a hurry' crunch straight away and never had it since.

I have always found this when changing gear at say 6500 rpm and changing from 2nd to 3rd gear as quick as possible... if you are not concentrating enough on the actual gear change then yes I some times do crunch it on the odd occasion.

Quick shift has made no difference what so ever for me to this, still the same!

I have noticed this since day one with my car (i don't consider it a problem tbh as I have done it in other cars too!) and I have also noticed other LCR drivers doing the same thing in their cars!

and I have never crunched it from 1st to 2nd btw!

J@mes, looking at your sig, doing 1/4 miles. surely the issue on 3rd upshift has slowed your times given

p1tse... tbh i doubt it very much! the 15mph head wind that day effect my time/terminal speed more than the shift did!

Il be back at pod soon enough though, as I now have an uprated Spec clutch fitted that can take 325 lbs of torque
