mk2 front end conversion

hello, im planning on doing a mk3 cupra front end conversion when i finish uni over christmas. I know the parts that i need to get hold of but how would i actually do it, are they all straight swops? do you need to be able to weld? because i cant! lol your help is appreciated. kyle

I think just some new holes are needed.

i think its a stight bolt on job. as the front ends are the same. just the body panels that are different.

Ive been told once that the chassis legs have to be extended? anybody know if this is right? because if its a straight bolt on job ill do it myself. but if its true ill have to leave it!

imo i think the mk3 end is too rounded and curved for the mk2, i dont think it will suite but thats my opinion

I do appreciate opinions, i just wanted to try something a bit different thats all, the other option would be to smooth out the number plate recess, get some gti headlamps, and smooth in the gti splitter, you reckon it would work better?

Indeed it is just a Mk3 in drag.

A few Cordoba owners have fitted the Mk3 front ends to their Mk2's... Check the Cordy section!

I don't see the point in my opinion, but meh. I have no taste anyway.

If you smooth your number plate recess and smooth the GTi splitter before I do, I will hurt you!

Well i plan on doing it over christmas, so the race is on! lol how would you smooth the plate recess tho? a whole lot of filler??? would it crack?

smoothing it out sounds nice!! get a leon splitter too to make it look lower!

Yeah, it'd crack mate. You need it plastic welding ideally.

I reckon smoothing it out might be the way forward, plus would save me the £600 i got quoted for a mk3 cupra front end! lol

Smoothing will look cool. I'm looking at getting quite a bit of smoothing and a full respray done soon.

Just waiting to get some money through and then I'll be sorted.

mk3 front end would be cool, i wanted to do it but like you said, cost factor - pm "roly" on here, he has a mk3 front end. a sweet looking one at that

Keeping it black. Standard colour but with extra pearl.

Some 16x7.5" front wheels, 16x9" rears, 90mm drop, lots of smoothing.

Budgeting for around £2k for all the above.

Smooth bumpers look good at a show but on the other hand driving along with your plate randumly stuck on some were looks rather cack.

Dave.......smoothing both bumpers??? Dont say your having the splitters blended in
