Coolant Issues -- A Quick Question

Hi,

I've done an extensive search but can't find a definative answer yet. I have the problem where my water temp needle get's up to temp fine, but then after driving for a while it suddenly drops to about 70deg, stays there a while then climbs back up to 90deg.

From my searches I've found that this seems to be linked to the G62 Engine temp sender (black top) and people suggest getting the updated green sensor. I looked under my bonnet to check the connections first of all and the senor I have is green already (Yreg 2001) implying it's been changed already. Would it be worth changing this sensor again assuming it's failed or thinking it's another problem altogether?

I'm sure I read somewhere there were 3 seperate sensors that could go wrong. The one in the coolant bottle which makes the temp warnign flash on cold mornings (def not that one), the G62 engine temp sender (maybe - but it's been replaced already in it's time)... Am I right in saying there may be another sensor to blame?

Cheers for any input.

swap the G62 sensor.. from what i heard there about as consumable as tyres, symptoms are exactly what i heard and i recently had to replace mine and its made a hell of a difference.

cost me £25 for the part but the fuel ive saved since has greatly paid for that :)

lol knotty - guess the engine light has stayed off then :)

but yea - it's cheap to replace - and if it does nto fix it you'll need the sensor anyways as they are common to fail.
