After driving my car relatively hard most of the time  my car has developed a new sound that's not quite right!

When accelerating (normally at the higher end of the rev range) i release the accelerator to change gear and there is a kind of psssst chirping noise
Sort of sounds like the excess boost being dumped but there is some kind of leak...I'm probably talking rubbish!

From my lame description, anybody have any ideas of what this could be?
:help:
Thanks

I get a wooshing sound everytime I release the accelerator, is that the same thing?

The whooshing sound has been joined by a short 'squeaky chirping' sound. Its hard to describe a noise in words....but it's definately different and doesn't sound right. The whooshing noise is normal and can be heard with all the 2.0T's

You got any gages in the car Dan to see if any boost pressure has dropped?

Nope, always fancied a gauge though to keep an eye on the boost but just never got round to it and couldn't decide where to place it if i did. Also been too busy buying prams and nappies for newborn

Hehe :)

Is Gaz going to Silverstone? Get him to take his Vagcom and see if any codes come up.

Funny you should say that as i think there is a slight loss in performance, only driven a few short journeys so haven't been able to test it out all warmed up yet!

We have started to find some cars suffering from split diaphrams in the DV's. Our MK5 GTi lost nearly 70bhp when ours went (but it went good and propper!)

I had a 2.0T Audi and i went through 3 broken DV's, so as a precaution, knowing that the CUPRA has the same DV and pushing 300bhp when Revo'd i replaced it with the Forge DV, so no diaphram to split there!!

split diaphrams seem to be way more likely on the K03s based cars and not the k04, but apperently it has happened!

have you turned your revo off to see if it stops? Could be too much boost for something to handle.

My previous Audi 2.0T k04 loved to split DV diaphrams!!
I haven't got the means of turning off my Revo at the moment, i did have an SPS switch at one time but i never actually used it because whats the point of having a slower car  and i always use 98Ron!

I will have to take a trip to Big Boys Toys i think :headhurt:

You are right that its mostly problem of the k03 based cars due to the fact that it is mounted on the turbo but the k04 based cars run much higher boost (when also chipped) than the k03s so there is a problem there too.
