Gear changing problems.......

Yeah I have driven another one, I've had pleanty of courtesy cars since I bought this one :( and I have to say I haven't noticed any of the problems I have with mine with any other Seat I've driven, Ibiza or otherwise, the odd few squeaks and creaks from the trim but no more.

I really do want to like the car, when I first got it everything was fine, then after about a month the problems began and have been going on ever since and here I am a year later and i'm no further forward. I think a year constantly battling to try and get my car into an acceptable state would grind most people down, and it's just got to the stage now where I have really lost all interest in it and don't really enjoy driving it. If it were to get sorted now I would probably find myself to have a change of heart and would love the car, but at the moment that just ain't looking likely.

it isnt looking or sounding likely :( have you been out for a drive in it with a seat technician in it and show him the problems :shrug: this should be your next step ring them up tomorrow and say you will be coming in on saturday sunday whatever and book an appointment then take them out and go for a long drive and take it where you know the problems accur this will show there is a problem and it ill HAVE TO BE SORTED! new gearbox, bushes ect.ect

Regarding the knocking noises from the front of the car, yeah I have taken numerous Seat "Technicians" out and they have heard the noise. The last person I took out was the service manager and he too heard the noise and agreed it was a problem (so it's not just me) and was able to replicate it himself in a spot we found, so there really shouldn't be any excuses for giving me the car back with the same problems. However after changing a part they have previously changed to fix the problem, the guy said he took it back out to the same spot and didn't hear the noise once despite making 4 or 5 trips down the same road. 1st to 2nd gear also must just be my driving because it never happened to them when they drove the car, seems a little odd to me though how all other gear changes are perfect but 1st to 2nd is a constant problem if the revs are built up in 1st and then change to 2nd, it's crunch time.

My beezer is checked into the steeler tomorrow for this exact same issue. The fault is pretty intermittent in mine, and they understand this, but have agreed to take a look anyway.

I'll keep you posted with the outcome, and my thoughts on the Diesel Cupra Beezer i'll have for the day...

The steeler had the car all day Friday, and for a few hours today. They must have really driven the nuts off it because I was missing 1/3 of the tank of fuel I had put in it :blink:

Only to be told... "No Fault Found" :headhurt: They must talk the most B$ of the lot, because as soon as I left the dealer (It's about 10-12 miles from the house) it did it twice. I find it very hard to believe that it didn't come up once in the entire 2 hours they allegidly drove the car for.

So, as you can guess, im not entirley happy. Took it back there just 40 minutes ago, and they have hinted that driver abuse / bad driving style is whats causing the problem. [:@] I explained that I change gear between 4-5k and don't see that as un-reasonable. They didn't comment, and refuse to take the car back for further inspection.

I left pretty :censored: off, and called them a few choice words. There's a Jaguar garage next door, and wish I could afford one of those instead! :happy:

What do I do now?

The Cupra TDi I had for 24 hours was pretty cool :), it felt quicker than the 1.8T - Sounded awful tho, and smoked like crazy! I won't buy one tho, petrol is still better! :funk:

I get the feeling this is going to be the exact same thing that is going to happen to me when they get round to testing mine. I would probably concede the fact that it could be driver error if it weren't for the fact that it is only ever from 1st to 2nd and it doesn't happen in any other gear and it only happens when the revs are built up in first gear, if you keep the revs down there is no problem, but it sort of makes the whole point of having a first gear a waste of time, I might as well just set off everywhere in second gear.

It really freaks me out the way they say no matter what they do they can't replicate unless they don't dip the clutch properly (hinting at my driving) which is annoying because on many occasions to prove the point to myself and others in the car I have had my foot hard down on the clutch and then changed gear with the same crunching result, I even took my mats out of the front to make sure the clutch was going all the way to the floor and wasn't being impeded in any way.

I guess I just have to wait and see what this "Technician" says after he drives it, and if he hints towards it being my driving I think I will probably end up flattening him :brucelee:

if you get the same response go to a diffrent dealer they may treat you better ive got a dealer down the road and they are PANTS and dont have a clue then a few extra miles away i have a usefull seat garage :shrug: i can understand both your annoyance hope they both get sorted

all i sugest to both of you is dont go big turbo ul be even more pissed off with it :lol:

just a guess are all your cars chipped/modded. is it your putting to much power down for what the gear box can handle maybe?? just an idea maybe wrong

Not chipped or modded in any way mate, completely as it came from the factory. Literally the only things to be changed are the two front tyres because they were shot after only 7.5k (completely down to the metal on the inside track, they had worn unevenly) and the petrol in the tank.

LOL no chance of me ploughing any money into it mate, not after all the problems I have had so far with it in it's standard form.

I am still very tempted to get shut of it and be really silly and get one of these and see how quickly I either die or go bankrupt.

get a sleeper something tht dosnt look to fast but goes like stick!!!! oh and in the VAG group of course!
