sometimes, but mostly around the rock of gibraltar where i live, doing hillclimbs and taking twisty runs. Of course, if i hill climb, i must go downhill at somepoint, which i do, so brake usage coming down could also be a factor.

but when i am on the motorway, i drive fast and brake hard. so i guess i have not exactly been light on the brakes. I do enjoy the stopping power of the brembo set-up, so im hoping after reading reviews.. that the ds2500 will work even better.

I never noticed any differences with UK spec LCR's and the one I exported from Spain to Gibraltar. Of course there is that little exception of the fact the steering wheel is slightly on the other side! (hehehe).

The Euro Spec LCR also had 17inch alloy wheels (same design) with the smaller discs, if Brembo's were spec'd then they stepped up to 18's as part of the package.

Quote: Depending on your mileage and usuage you may also find your brake fluid has been boiled at some point, a brake fluid swap to some decent Motul stuff maybe an advantage too.

Cheers for the brake fluid tip Ruddmeister, I'll look into that when changing them.

Ok guys... I have now fitted the DS2500 pads....Thanx Bill!! :D

Major screaching noises coming from both left and right side...(to be exppected at first?).

And since they have been installed i have an anoying light on my dash board, (probably the old sensor now gone, so light stays on). :(

But...the worst of it all... Now my abs and esp, now lights up, generally a few minutes after starting to drive... i dont know what it is, i have not touched any cables. I dont think thet the systems are phisically broken because sometime the lights go out and i have abs and esp again, its really strange. Anyone experienced this after changing pads...suggestions welcome, I need some help, other wise i guess its off to the garage.

Thanks.

One more important thing i forgot to mention was that when the esp and abs is working and i apply light brake pressure to a stop, it feels like something is sliping like there is a bit of 'lazy abs' at work or something like that...anyone know what i mean?

to get around the brake warning light coming on i cut the old connector block off my old pads leaving enough wire to solder together making a circuit. i then made it waterproof and tied it up out of the way and i haven't had the light come on since. did you put any copper grease on the back of the pads before putting them in the calipers? this would normally stop them squealing.

bed them in progressively... before caning them.
sounds like an ABS sensor was disturbed when disconnecting your old pads..
pads having nothing to do with the sensor.

Hi again...

Ok I took the car to a garage, they checked the brakes and abs fault. They removed the front pads and re-fit one of the retaining springs, which had apparently been re-fitted in reverse!. They repaired the wiring for the pad sensor, ahhed some copper grease as advised.

Then they did a road test and told me that i need to go to seat to possibly re-calibrate the abs because their diagnostics machine cant communicate with the ECU.

So, a bit of progress, but abs still needs sorting.

Do you think that due to fitting these pads, the abs settings need to be altered in some way by seat? Could that be the cause of the abs kicking to early, or this is just a coincidence?

Humm... i wonder why this has happened as soon as the new pads were fitted?
Bill mentioned earlier that the abs sensor may have been disturbed, but if that is the case, how will re-calibrating the abs via the ecs help? Surely if the abs sensor has been disturbed, like unplugged, moved slightly or something, it should simply be a case of making sure its plugged in correctly... I honestly dont know where it is located to check. where is this sensor please?

Yep... it all looks fine after second inspection, but its still screwed, so its off to seat so they can check out the ecu and check for a fault or whatever

Im so bored from not being able to use my car properly yet :(

thanks all for help and comments, i will keep u posted.

I had mine changed between 11-12k miles. The outside pads only had about 1mm of friction material left, the inside pads were down to the backing plates. I questioned the technician (as I've never worn out pads that quickly on previous cars!) and I was told it was quite normal.

I did a quick search on here and found that 10-12k appears to be 'the norm'.

Do you do a lot of motorway driving?

Mainly A-road driving - 40 miles a day to/from work.

Perhaps I should get the pads checked...

well i suggest u check em every so often, because there is only one sensor fitted to the original pads and it was the pad without the sensor that wore down first on my LCR. Resulted in a lovely scratched disc, which the DS2500's are currently wearing out slowly.

So turn ur wheel full lock to the right say, and u should be able to see ur pad in the caliper against the disc.

pads wont effect an abs sensor.... kak handed installation however may have disturbed your abs sensor connector.. have you removed it and checked it for being plugge din securely yet?

I thought I had an ABS sensor go, at low speed with lock on the wheel the ABS would trigger (under 20mph) so pulling into a parking space etc.

The fault was traced to the wire that goes to the ABS sensor, when lock was applied the wire would be stretched and sent a false signal. The sensor was rewired and the problem was cured.

This was not related to the pad installation, the pads worked faultlessly

Thanks for the info, Im sorry but where exactly is this abs sensor? And if it is the sensor, will that then be the cause for the esp not working either?

Thanks again... (Still trying to figure this out)

yes same speed sensor used by ABS and ESP so fault is fault
wiring most likely

My S8 has the same issue (reoccuring) on right front wheel
