:lol:fnah, fnah!

But seriously... Does anyone with a Leon FR manual find the gear know incredibly uncomfortable to use?

I find it digs into the hand if you prefer, as I do, to change gear with the palm of your hand.

Anyone changed theirs for one of the 'knobs' offered by SEAT or anyone else for that matter?

Perhaps your not used to such a big knob ??? :cartman:

Okay, Joking aside, you really don't need much force to change gear so you shouldn't need to grab it / hold it that tight to hurt you?

This thread is sounding more like a "Carry On" script with every post. I'm half expecting Sid James to post next.

I am surprised that no-one finds gear knob an unusual and uncomfortable shape - must be me. Having come from an Altea DSG I guess I must be more a of 'flaps' man than a 'knob' man after all!

I changed my FR gear knob as it was a pain, picked another from the seat range and it feels much better:D looks better too.

Nah it's so we can change gear whilst "flipping the bird" at the chav in the Nova SR :D

lol well yeah thats a good reason.
So what is it really like then the old paddle shift would u neva go back to a gear stick now.
Lol well one thing is u do have to give the bird to alot of chavs the seem to think the badge seat means slow the must of mist the fr or i was driving to fast past them on the autobahn they could not see it.
I am so happy i live in germany god bless the autobahn.

The paddle shift is good. It feels quick, too. I think in most cases, the paddle shift is quicker than actual manual gear change. So it helps out a lot when you're racing - Which is what it's about. The paddle shift just makes it seem more sportier and when you feel like cruising, you can without worrying about changing gear. It's good.

I think that once I've unprogrammed my brain from a manual (had the car 4 days) then the DSG will be much better. I'm still a bit awkward and the times I've used the paddles I've never been as "on the ball" with gear choice than in a manual.

The only thing I wish I could change is the gear change direction on the stick (in manual mode). For some reason Seat have it so pushing the stick up changes up a gear, and to my mind it should be the other way round. But I am a leftie so it's probably my brain that's wired wrong.

Had a MK5 R32 with DSG...a technological marvel & certainly quick through the gears - sounds great too, as each shift is made at the limits of the rev counter ! (just before red of course !).

Only thing is.....I felt quite unattached from the driving of the car because of it & found myself using the sequential change with the stick more often than not - didn't bother with the paddles at all !

Personal opinion.....but I much prefer manual transmission ! ;)
