Concerns regarding head restraints

The head rests in my 2002 preface lift lc only go up and down there isn't any tilt adjustment on them, but as long as the're at the right height i believe it's top of headrest level with the top of your head or something like that, i can't see you having a problem.

As someone who has been shunted had wiplash and had to have a disk in my neck removed because of it, i can understand your concerns, but tbh, it doen't matter what car your in if you get hit hard enough it's going to cause wiplash i'm affraid.

But the leon does come with a variety of airbags so it is a pretty safe car, by some standards.

I don't think the head rests in my LC adjust back and forward just up and down... So if you take into account the above quote, then yeah they are a bit crap...

Odd - mine (05 plate TDi FR) pivot back and forth at the base of the headrest. My old Leon (Y plate TDi 110 SE) also pivoted in exactly the same way....

AFAIK the problem with the head rests is because they don't lock in position
If you hit them they move position, either the tilt or the up down movement
Head rests do help in whiplash.
I know a paraplegic guy who was in a 30 mph crash in a car with no head rests, his head folded over the back of the seat and he's never walked since

Yea andy i tilt my headrest as far forward as possible as they do seem to sit a bit back from the top of the seat, its the only comfortable way i can drive with using them

????

Unless you drive with your head touching the headrest (which presumably you don't) then comfort doesn't come into it. Your head should only hit the headrest when you have an accident (or if you fall asleep ).

Come to think of it I have actually seen some odd people driving with their heads resting on the headrests - looks very odd and like they are really rigid (or asleep!), almost as odd as all the young girls who drive with the seat up high and forward so that their nose is about an inch from the windscreen :D

That's what I heard too, I can move all of mine up and down without having to push the release button.
I believe this affected Golfs as well.
