LCR 225 - what to look for.

Morning all. Looking at LCR 225's at the moment in place of mt Golf Mk5 TDi (see classifieds) and Ive looked at guides etc and read about the cambelt / water pump issues but I was just wondering what other issues there are with the cars that have done around 30-40k miles?

Things like suspension components, brake discs, exhaust, interior components, window regulators etc.

Also is there anywhere that you can get replacement dials as Im not a fan of the white dials? Bit too max power for me.

Any common areas for rust?

Take a look at the carpets - check for signs of water ingress from the doors seals.

Water on the door sills themselves is also indicative of leaky door seals.

Obviously teh normal stuff too - check the

tyres and brakes (neither are cheap to replace), full service history is a must, look for poor paintwork, damaged wheels etc - sings it maybe hasn't been looked after particularly well.

Also, a full AA check or similar would probably be wise as a 30-40k LCR is going to be costing you a few pennies

make sure its had a water pump. It will go soon if its not done. Also check history for coil pack replacement, front wheel bearings. Have a good look at the LCD display on the AC unit, make sure all the digits are on.

water pump shouldnt go that early... on any car.

I was speaking to someone yesterday 'songman' who is running 370bhp on his and it has been for about 25k iirc.. and it's on 80k ish and still on it's original driveshafts/bearings.

I think the 225's had the door seal(s) issue fixed by learning from the 210.?

I had a water pump go on my 03 Audi A4 Cabriolet 1.8T. It went at 40k

Also had a waterpump go on a 99' MK4 GTI 1.8T (AGU) Engine Code Golf at 95k.
