You only need to change your flywheel if the old one is knackered.

Don't let them change the flywheel ffs!! Mine is FINALLY being sorted tomorrow after 3 months of "it'll be done tomorrow."

Hopefully no more rattle tomorrow! [B)]

well here is the full story, i had a new clutch and flywheel fitted. the clutch was rated at 330lbs and the flywheel was standard. the car did 500 miles and now it judders like hell when setting off and judders when booting it around 2000rpm! the garage have no better clutch or flywheel to handle the power so i need a decent kit. not the shitty cheap stuff i bought. all my own fault, being a cheap skate

I bought the Helix kit which iirc handles more torque than the Sachs kit. And they changed my flywheel from a DMF to a SMF when doing the clutch. it rattles soooooooooooooooooo badly! When a lights, you just keep your foot on the clutch to avoid embarrassment. It rattles horrifically cos it's lighter weight than the standard one....

I'm going back to the standard DMF tomorrow. they've just "made a clutch that will work with the DMF". which is all a loads of tits but I don't care! just want peace back! :D

its the clutch. dont think the flywheel has anything to do with it really. the only reason they change it i think is because the SMF is lighter than the standard DMF. it's meant to make it rev easier. if that makes sense? i think thats right

Im looking to change my clutch when i get mine remaped to get the most out of the map. How much am i looking at for a sachs clutch by itself?, as i can fit it with a mate.
That link that Jonny posted is really cheap at £124! is this an uprated clutch or a standard one?
