Seat Complaint

Phoned the dealer today to complain about the work done on my car.

Story so far...

Took it in the other week to have a new pedal box and clutch cable fitted. £470 later i get in the car and the EPC light is on. Had to take it back so they could reset it FOC. They appologised and i thought that was that.

Looking under the dash the other day whilst trying to fit the Fog Lights and noticed that the two bolts which appear to hold the pedal box in place are stupidly loose, to the point that it took about 10 finger turns to actually get the fairly tight. (i have a pic which i will post tonight)

Anyway, i was unsure if these bolts should have threadlock or be torqued that i just tightened them but again they have come loose.

Spoke to the service manager this morning, he just appologised and said bring it down. Which i explained is a major inconvience due to it being the wrong side of town.. He just said sorry.

So gonna go down tomorrow morning, whats the best plan of attack?

Anyone ever got a bit of a refund or something for free?

Write a long letter of complaint outlining all the issues you have with them. Explain that in future you will be visiting another garage to carry out work on your car as you are so unhappy with their service.

Explain things like you chose their dealership because you thought they were a professional company with excellent customer service etc etc.

You might not get anything but its well worth doing in my opinion. Also give them some stick on here in the 'Dealers - have your say' section. Make everybody aware of the problems you have had

Yeah, well im going tomorrow morning hopefully so gonna say that im really unhappy. Try and get some money off next service or free valet or something.

Also gonna ask for head of dealership and write to that person. Shame really as there is a pretty fit milf who works there who was a proper star. AH well.

Here are the bolts in question:

went in this morning, they admitted that the bolts should be tight and sorted it. I complained, asked for the dealership managers name. Also said that im unsure to what to do as they are the nearest garage to me but i really dont feel happy leaving my car with them.

Service manager said i understand, and said if i did want to bring it back then he would discount my next service. He wouldnt go into detail about the discount but as far as im aware the next service is cambelt change so might get something off.

Still unsure if i should write a letter to the dealership manager, the two staff i have dealt with have been sound just a shame that the job wasnt done right.

Its always worth travelling for good service, a lot of people on here go to garages they trust. Most of the people I know in Kent or surrounding areas use the Motorist Centre in Canterbury and stay clear of all the dealers.

I find best way of dealing with stealers that give a rubbish service and dont respond kindly to your complaints is to not go back.

Its worth posting your coments about the dealers on the dealer feedback section here, a lot of people including the dealers read it.

Ive had lots of experiences with different seat dealers, when ive complained before ive had varying responces from being threatend with physical violence to being given a free set of break pads to say sorry.

Most important of all, dont get angry with them, be polite but to the point when you are not happy and keep your head. Tell them why you are not happy and what you want them to do to put it right.

Yeah, im not the sort of person who kicks off in public anyway, i just told the service manager straight that i was unhappy that a job which cost £470 has forced me to come back to the garage twice, miss work and use extra petrol for the incompetence of this engineer.

He just said i understand etc... and offered the discount on the next service if i go.

i am still unsure if to write a letter or not as in all fairness to the staff have been really nice and sorted things out, also i dont know what i want them to do to fix this problem.

write a letter - and anyway if you do go back it'll cost you more than other non-dealer garages would and they also get a 2nd chance to muck things up.

Dave, post all the details in the dealer feedback section. Just make sure you read the rules in there first ;)

Yeah i will do, gonna get a letter writen first.

Who sees the feedback, just SCN people?

Whoever choose's to read it. SEAT and dealers do browse the forums regularly.

Whether it makes a difference or not, we've no idea. But if you keep your complaints polite and factual. Rather than foul rants like some people tend to do you never know it might get taken on board.

Good luck with it anyway.

The service manager did say that they might be but imo they dont look like it.
