Last week my car has reached the worn tappets stage, now covered 106k and 3 years old. Noticed something wrong when I could hear this tappety noise when engine under load. Rocker cover off and base of cam lobe on number 1 cylinder slightly marked. Apparently a common problem on the pd150 and the rectification is new cam tappets bearings etc and a bill for around £500.
Ps Need a new clutch soon and going to replace the dmf too with a bill for £440
