Hi,

I am considering getting myself and the car some new suspension as an early Christmas gift but would like to know what peoples views are on the spring and damper kits from Jackson Tuning on Clubpolo? I can not seem to find any posts on them only the coilovers. Do Evo who make the kits have a website?

I was considering a 40/40 drop (I want a decent road set up that is sporty but not too harsh - much like the current Golf GTI for example) but am wondering how much this will actually drop my car as the GTI 2.0 8v is already lower than standard?

Has anyone purchased the 40/40 kit or have any pic's with a Cupra at similar height? Also I am concerned about whether the kit would be OK on the GTI as it is advertised as for all Ibiza's but surely a 2.0 engine up front will require a different setup from a 1.4 etc?

Cheers

From what i've read, most people have bought the coilovers as there isn't too much difference in price. If you are concerned about the height that it's going to be, why not spend a little extra and get the coilys??

Coilovers are £210 I believe and the spring/damper kit is £130. Just thought the spring/damper combo would handle and ride better than cheap coilovers.

Oh, didn't think the price difference was that much. They might be cheap coilovers but they are also cheap spring/damper sets, so I think the quality is going to be the same with either. Only heard good things about the coilovers though, so I would imagine the others can't be that bad.

m0rk is correct, make sure you get 'ibiza 6k' kits and he doesnt try and send you polo 6N ones.

mines have proved to be better than the FK's i had on my 1.4 ibiza - price isnt always the be all and end all.

60/40 or 60/60 will sit fine depending on what wheel set up you have, running spacers etc...

Standard 15" wheels. Planning rear 15/20mm spacers in the near future. Does the gti run lower than the standard models? Thus say if the gti is 20mm lower than a 1.4 then a 40mm drop would mean only 20mm on the gti? Mine is a 98' 2.0 8v.

where can you buy these spacers from?
also will you not need longer wheel bolts?

the polo is lighter, so the spring rates are softer (or should be)

so the setup will not be 'right' for the heavier chassis, and heavier engine.

the track is also wider on the Ibiza at the front.

basically DECENT manufacturers know this... and from what I can tell - you won't be offered this from this supplier. Perhaps the lack of warrantee & comeback & insurance is another consideration

this does explain a few questions i had with the springs, thanks for the mork ...grrr i got lumbered with the polo ones ...they fit fine though.

teh dampers are the same fitment.....

but it goes to show, that despite members on here claiming that "its ok to slam it on a cheap polo kit" that they're wrong.

I would say that anyone advertising an Ibiza/Polo kit (as the same thing) is not someone I personally would want to buy something from.
