remote key problem

has anyone had problems with there key? the key works well the light flashes red when you press the buttons but it dont lock or unlock. Anybody got any suggestions

yep...sit in your car and close the door. then follow the steps below.:

1) put key in ignition
2) twist so that the ignition is turned on (dont start the car)
3) turn the ignition straight off and remove the key
4) within 2 seconds hold the lock button and press the unlock button 3 times (while still holding down the lock button)
5) the car will sit for a few seconds then lock and unlock itself.

get out the car, close the door walk away job done

yeh mine is very tempermental too!

It works as in locks unlocks but sometimes not. I suspect you might need to reprogramme the key. Get your manual out and it tells you how to do it in there. New batteries wouldn't harm either!

when i did mine and tried it with the door closed the car locked me in and the alarm set off I was unable to get out of the car and my dad had to get the spare key from upstairs to let me out! i couldn't wind the window down to use the outside handle and the unlock buttons wouldn't work on the door!

my key remote has stopped working, the light still comes on so its not the battery, i have tried following theese steps but it doesnt seem to work, when i let go of the buttons the light on the key flashes a couple of times but the car doesnt lock and then unlock, wot am i doing wrong???

i was just wondering if there is a fuse in the car wich if blown would cause the remote locking to stop working???? if so wich fuse is it? and how do i check if it has blown?

just tryed this but dont work and when i unlock car with key it only unlocks drivers door any ideas fuse maybe

When it starts flashing i always put it back in the ignition and turn it to position 2 again. Works for me.
Karls cupra, mine does that, i reckon it's either the solenoid or the mechanism itself.

my battery just went flat last night and when i went to open it the cnetral locking wouldn work from the remote and when i used the key in the drivers door only that door unlocked and the indicators started flashing dimly very fast and inside was making a realy fast clicking noise and the car wouldn start.

today got it started and everything else is fine just the central locking wont work for some reason does anybody know what could be up?

tried the top suggestion but the light on the key just flash and nothing happens!

what would you reccomend?

fuses are located under the steering wheel just pull out the plastic panel and they are at the bottom right. it should have a chart to show you which fuses do what on the plastic that you pull off
