Chrome exhaust and rear tailgate

Hi all just wondering if anybody had fitted the oval chrome exhaust trim or rear chrome boot trims to there Altea's. They look smart on the Seat website and would in my opinion smarten up the rear so to speak. Any pictures would be appreciated. Thanks.

get a tail trim from a motor factors and fit yourself, looks as good if not better and more individual. not hard to do and much cheaper!

They are not particularly expensive on the Seat website and will be genuine parts so I think I'll go into the local dealer and check em out.

Hi Shads,

I actually had the double chrome tailpipe trim and rear tailgate strip fitted to my 2.0TDI Sport last Saturday at David Cooks in Oldham (along with the chrome wing mirror covers as well). The parts weren't at all expensive - the tailgate trim was £30, mirror covers £40 and the exhaust trim £65 - before a discount because I bought them all at the same time.

No pictures yet (will try and oblige before weekend) but as my Altea is Emocion Red I wanted to break up the back a bit - which it has done very nicely, I'm well pleased with the effect.

Hope this helps, and I'll try and get some pics for you. :D

Nice one Matt. By the way I actually know David Cook's son who incidently is called what for it.........................Dave Cook. I am sure I could ask for a discount or ask if anybody on here is after any thing.

We put a Seat Sport exhaust trim on our reference sport purchased from dealer just after we bought the car cost £50 but is made by Remus I think so feels good quality and is heavy ... looks great had to hack 90mm off the exhaust pipe to fit tho... not nice with only 70 miles on the clock

The trim was only £13 and fitted it at side of road with a 10mm spanner in 2mins flat, no cutting, could do with ~30mm taken off to flush it with rear, but still does the job very well.

I have had the trim and twin exhaust fitted for around 18 months now, well worth doing as it really sets the rear of the car off.
Hi Aceman, where did you purchase this from?. It looks excellent and just what I am after.

I got them from my dealer Ted Johnsons who also fitted them free which for the exhaust is a little more difficult as you have to cut the tailpipes and if you get this wrong then they don't look straight. There are instructions provided with the pipes telling you where to cut the exhaust so it can be done DIY but be warned you only get one attempt so that's why I entrusted my dealer to do it, thankfully they got it spot on.

When I saw how much David Cooks had to cut off my exhaust to get the trim on, I was glad I'd got them to fit it! Would not have fancied having to do that myself - £25 well spent IMHO.

I was rather hoping to swing fitting them on to my brother but he said, "no too difficult", so as people said at the time best to hood wink your garage to do them for free if possible other than that you have to pay. I reckon the cost to get the fitted was the cost of them again as I recall after I had them knocking about for six weeks trying Kwik Fit type of places and becoming an expert of the tools for exhaust pipe cutting. There is a ratchet type of device that you use to do it, sort of a chain saw that is used for exhaust pipe cutting in situ.
