I prefer the MK3s over the MK4s, and I now prefer the MK4s over the MK5s!!

:(

Exactly, when the MK3 was shown, everyone with MK2's hated it, same with the MK4 over the MK3. This will be no different.

As muddyboots has said, its got alot more hidden than most people think. I remember seeing a thread for the MK4 release and most people on here hated it, saying "Why a 130bhp diesel, that will never sell" Oh dear... seems like the most popular engine in the Ibiza on this forum is a PD130!

Im surprised no one has picked up the engine selection that the first report mentions. According to them, its going to have the same engines as the current MK4, no 2.0 litre unites as all or the new 1.4 twincharger in the Golf??

I also remember some months ago now, even after the full pictures of the MK2 Leon were on display people hated it, yet that mood has changed with bodykits, alloys and powerful engines!

You have to remember guys, the spy shots are more than likely for a bottom of the range 1.2 with non OEM wheels on.

Look at the 1.6 Leon MK2 pictures when they first came out, then look at the FR/Cupra version? Look at a standard 1.2 S Ibiza MK4 next to the Cupra? Even look at the MK1 1.4 Leon against the LCR!!

Too quick to judge imho. Not that im going to buy one as they look HORRIBLE! j/k :)

Well said mate. It may well turn out to be a dog, but in the meantime its hard to pass judgement.

In disguised form, I think it has a touch of the 1 series...anyone?

Maybe all that tape around the wing mirrors & door close lines isn't a disguise at all - it's their attempts to reduce wind noise :)

It would be rather odd for them to keep the old engines as VW themselves are phasing them out. Even the 2.0 diesel has a newer common rail version to replace it.

Anyone got any theories what is hidden under the disguise behind the rear window? You can see it in the third photo. It can't be the curve of the window as it would be behind the door shut line. Perhaps it's a nice bit of 80s Japanese style plastic wood trim. That would set it off a treat.;)

Edit. Looking at it again my guess is a black triangular panel which follows the bottom line of the window. Perhaps with the hidden door handle for when they remove them from the back doors as per the new Leon. Wishful thinking!

Looks like the Daywoo Lacetti

That sounds about right, the MK4 used to be easily confused with the Daewoo Lanos!

I don't know how, but it looks massive, but it doesn't look like a SEAT from side on, it looks like a car thats been designed and built by China, for China. That said, you can see the glass by the mirror and the glass on the rear quarter have been masked up, so once they've been pulled off, the lines will flow a lot better.

Looks like the car will lose its very distinctive UR Quattro style boxy wheel arches. Loved those on the current ibizas! :(

Right now im leaning towards a 2.0T Quattro TT (its not out yet) as my next car. Think this new ibiza will be a bubblier car to the MK4 with alteal/leonish styling cues!
