I appreciate that there is a specific area dedicated to "Bluetooth" problems but I do believe that the following observations are worthy of note. Especially to new members who have never owned a vehicle with Bluetooth and are "virgins" to the concept (Like myself)
I picked up my new TFSI FR DSG on Friday and found my "old" Sharp GX25 phone connected to the car but failed to download my phonebook. This can be got around by recording the names in the on board internal phone book by following the instrictions on pages 13 and 14 of the Communication System Manual. Please note:
Having verbally entered a name and number the manual states give the speech command "STORE" (Page 14). I tried this several times but it did not work??????? What did work was the speech command "SAVE" !!!!!
Although my old phone worked I found it made a lot of "worrying" noises when connecting. Consequently, I upgraded my phone today.
My son has a Sony Ericsson K810i which works with the car fine. This model is not yet available on "pay as you go" so I purchased the Sony Ericsson K800i. This phone also appears to work fine. The only thing to note is that is if you have duplicated your contacts on both the phone and the Sim they will be duplicated on the phone book in the car. To get around this delete any duplications on your phone or sim prior to connecting to the car. I also noted that any additions made to your phone between getting out of the car and getting back in did automaticly update on the car phone book after a short time.
Please note that the above observations have been made having only had the car and new phone for a day!!!! IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A NEW PHONE THAT IS FULLY COMPATIBLE WITH YOUR ONBOARD BLUETOOTH THEN DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH FIRST (I did using this site and (hopefully) I have found the phone which will suite my purpose).
Once again I appologise to the powers that be if you think I have posted this in the wrong Forum but I must admit that it was general threads like this that pointed me as a "Newbie" in the right direction!!
