Tyre runout stripes

Right, was all set to stick my new alloys on this week then I read some stuff about 'runout stripes' on tyres - the coloured bands that run around the tread on a new tyre.

I understand they indicate which way the tyre is likely to pull, depending on where they are. So, for example, if one tyre has the stripe towards the outside, you should make sure the tyre on the other side also has the stripe towards the outside to balance it out.

Problem is, all four tyres on the wheels Ive been sent have the stripe on the same side, i.e. on the outside of the right hand tyres but the inside of the left hand ones.

Can't find any more info anywhere on this, hence I'm asking if anyone on here can shed any light. Should I be worrying about it?

I wouln't worry about it as you can't buy left and right sided tyres and the chances of finding the differing stripes when buying 4 are slim

Well you learn something new every day...
My tyres are quite new so I guess I'll be checking me stripes tomorrow

Seems not many people know about this. Including people who fit tyres for a living

Which I guess is why it's difficult to find 4 tyres with exactly the 'right' stripes.

Still - if it's true I don't want my car pulling to the right (although it might off set the tendency of Leons to pull to the left ).

I'm booked in for a service on Wednesday (when I'm getting the alloys put on - saves me a job ) so I'll ask what the garage thinks.

I thought the stripes were to assist the tyre fitters when they are balancing the wheel.
