The ECU will 'trim' itself with the built in temp correction whatever map you have.

Therefore the lower the inlet temp, the more power being produced. As the ECU allows more ignition advance, and more petrol? etc due to the air being more cold/dense.

Or at least that my understanding of it?

Take your car out at night in the cold (this time of year is perfect), and it'll feel like its pulling harder than it does in the middle of summer in the day. Thats the same sort of effect you'll get from the intercooler.

What will I need to get it to fit?

much work? and will it sit behind my bumper?

Yeah, the colder the weather the harder it pulls. If you need time to save up then nows perfect as the weathers cooling off for the winter anyway so you wont 'need' an intercooler as much over the winter. Why not save up over the winter and get it fitted ready for next spring/summer.

Jabba quoted me £690 for standard thickness or £700 for thicker one which means removing aircon...(NO THANK YOU)

Would jabba be better than forge?

hmm laguna might not be a perfect fit :(
