I met a fox on the road the other night. He wont do it again,, but the lower section of my bumper is trashed.
The stealer is about 600e for a new bumper and then i would have to spray it. ... anywhere else i could get my hands on a leon FR front bumper???
Would a Cupra R bumper fit or would it look out of place???

It would be nice to fit a cupra R bumper, but is it any lower than the fr bumper? the fr only has the 17in wheels and the r has 18 so i would imagine it would get away with lower bumper. Last thing i want to do is get a new bumper and smack it off the ground in a few weeks ....

I think the original bumpers are ABS Plastic? Im not sure i would be too happy buying a bumper unless its original.

Originl bumpers come up every now and then on ebay, i would say just keep a look out on there.

I agree i will wait a while and see if any second hand bumpers come up for sale. If not il go for the genuine bumper from the dealer. Would not be happy with fiberglass bumper on the car...

I think you would have to loose fogs, but yes it will fit lots of people upgraid to the R bumper. To be honest i really like the look of the cupra bumper!

I sold and FR+ front bumper a couple of moths ago on here, had a slight coming together with a coach and there was very little damage so spoke nicely to the workshop doing the work! Got it off them and sold it on here for a few quid towards my XS!

IMO the FR+ bumper looks the dogs, yes it's low (I've "shaved" the splitter a couple of times) but it looks the part. Plus it has holes for the fog lights. Not a geek when it comes to model specs, etc. but I'm sure they're all pretty similar as the chap that bought mine wasn't too worried and he had a v. early Cupra.

Get an original tho, buy cheap, buy twice!

take a pic of your bumper please mate? cos if its fixable and you get a new one i might be able to fix it for myself (i do bodywork) instead of trying to find one as i would like the facelift bumper and it will fit any leon which isnt an R and not the new shape (mk2) if im not mistaken

ill ask this for my sanity.

yes the cupra R bumper will fit.
however not without a little work.
for example the, wheel arch liners will need an addition bit so they they fit the inside of the bumper.
the foglights are different, so thats another load sof £s.. they are not cheap. however many people sell them second hand.
you will need new sentre top grill also i believe.

600euros sound alot for a cupra bumper, that about what an R bumper costs in the UK.
im sure you can get them for 380ish from the right dealer. (plus spraying)

as for height, the R bumper is lower but has a splitter at the bottom, (anoth £20 or so) this is removable and replacable.
you have 17" wheel the R had 8" but the radius is the same so the wheels make no difference to the height. however the FR suspension is not as low as the R so you will aactually be higher than an R.

do a search on here, there are many places the parts required for a swap to an R bumper are listed.

R bumpers second hand are hard to get hold of, but dont be tempted by the cheap copies, they dont fit and you will take a LONG time to get them to fit and it wont be right.

After carefull consideation of all that info, I have decided to get the standard FR bumper. Too much expense more fogs ,grills, etc. I bought the bumper from ebay. Form a car spares place in stoke on trent. Its not a dodgy fiberglass one. It is a plastic insurance approved replacement part. So it should be fine i hope. £217 inc delivery to ireland. Happy enough with that as cost at dealer would be 450ish. Now i'm thinking if buying a front splitter from a Cupra R..
