Just filled mine up to save doing it through the week.
580 miles done, 75 left in the tank (acording to OBC) and just a fraction under 1/4 of a tank left. i think i could of squeezed 90 miles from it, but rather not run out of fuel by trying.

well quick update gang. 455 on the clock now ad still about a 1/3 left in it. i think i will drive it till it hits the needle and try and get a true number without running out of juice. Like top gear when they tested the the big volvo JC was playing the petrol station game in the red.

Very first tank in the Ibiza Cupra TDI (£38) got me 370 miles. Light flashed on and said I had 20 miles left? That sound right? I would have expected 50+ miles from the light??

Strange thing is the fuel gauge had just dropped below the 1/4 mark.

I had a evo 3....it gave me about 18-20 mpg....£45 full tank gave me around about 250-260 miles that’s if i drove carefully....now own a SE TDi....full tank gave my just over 500miles which was great. It doesn’t have the same power as my evo did, but doesn’t drain me on fuel.:funk:

sounds like its driven hard or in traffic. The way the miles left thing works is it takes an average of the last 5 miles and assumes its going to be the same, so if you carried on driving that way you would have got another 20 miles whicih is low. But then if you kept watching and eased off/cruised then the miles left would go up.

Definetly not driven hard, i'm running it in. Not been going over 2.5k and gentle acceleration. MPG shows an average of 50-55mpg on my journeys to work which is great.

Not complaining as the scooby is twice as thirsty on fuel but I was a little confused over the remaining miles once the light flashed up and the fact the light comes on when it drops about 1mm below the 1/4 tank mark.

Whats generally more accurate, the digital readout stating remaining miles or the analogue gauge?

Done 500 miles now so engine is still veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrry tight :)

Drive it - properly, as often as you can :) Nothing wrong with cruising around ..... but no sense babying it - it needs a good and frequent workout otherwise it will never loosen up.

That doesn't mean you have to thrash the nuts off it everywhere you go though :)

Read the guide and haven't really don't much different from it. I did keep at or below 2.5k rpm's for the first 400miles but got bored and have had a few blasts to 3.5k.

Not far from 700 miles now and the brakes are pretty much bedded in. I hardly brake on my way to work (35miles) as its so quite. Made a point of bedding them in the last few hundred miles.

I tend to use the scooby for a blast and drive the Cupra with economy in mind, hence the light foot :D Pretty impressed with the in gear acceleration so far. Do they get noticeably faster with the miles piled on them ?

They get looser, not in a bad way - i don't always drive mine on the torque, i spend a fair bit of time driving it through the rev range. Mine doesn't smoke :)

Brakes are the exception, bed them in properly and they'll give you good service.

Mine has just gone over the 40k mile mark and it's definitely getting better all the time. MPG around town is around 26, that's not bad for how it gets driven :)

Ignore the 'i get xxx miles to a tank' thing, you only get silly mpg by driving it very carefully - i don't know many people who bought a car with 150bhp as stock to drive it like miss daisy. Ok it's there for when you want to, but if economy was your first motive, you'd have bought a 110Tdi :)

Well. nearly went for an FR but I like good brakes as i'm used to 4 pot Brembo's so this commuting car needed to be able to stop to my liking and i would have ahd to spend money modifying anything with less brakes than the Cupra ;)

It also needed to handle when pushed as I do like the odd mad moment done in a safe manner ;)

I also like something that looks a little different and is on the rarer side of things. Only ever seen one other Cupra on the road and don't know if it was Petrol or Diesel.

After all as you say, If it MPG was my main concern I wouldn't have got the 160bhp Cupra. lol

Managed 335 miles on an indicated half tank, nice open welsh roads.

Done another 125 miles of town driving and it's on a quater.

I don't think it's too bad for a 105.

I don't drive like miss daisy!
i do 2000 miles a month and thats just to work and back, so during the week i drive it at the speed limits and give it the occasional blast when Mr BMW insists on trying to get in my boot, but generally speaking i get good MPG just by driving to the limits.
When i want to get to work quicker i can easily knock 10 mpg off my drive and 15mins driving time.
I bought the FR for its looks and power with economy in mind. Having all 3 is a bonus and if i want the power, i use it;)

Most tanks I average 42mpg. Iv managed to get 52mpg out of it before. Most of my journeys are quite short though........ under 10 miles.

OK final update filled up yesterday, and i got 564 till the light went on. I was very impressed to be honest. i think when the light goes on it means theres a gallon left??? Going to have to try and find some millers and try this new stuff they have flush it thru the system a few times and see what happens with power and miles then.
