I'd agree here, I have just had front & Rear ARB's, front upper & lower strut braces, and powerflex bushes... wow what a difference! worth every penny, so happy with the way the car now feels!

So neither Hudds, slick or uncleFester mention a dog bone mount or panel filter in their top five mods to do to a Leon. Care to comment on that jonjay or was there something else you found funny about my post?

Silly slip - should have said that panel filter is obligatory with the remap, any company offering a remap will tell you that a panel filter is a must have.

Dogbone mount is a worthwhile change, but for me, it comes outside of the magic 5 :)

And are quite happy to sell you one at the same time. If anyone has got a before and after printout of a car without then with a panel filter that shows any noticeable power increase please post it. Those of you that believe in the power of the panel filter might want to read the following link.

Just because a car accelerates sooner lower down in the rev range does not mean it has gained any peak power you just reach peak power sooner.

Hmm interesting read, although having seen the crap that accumulates in my filter box ... it needs regular inspecting / cleaning either way. Only point then is which medium is less susceptible to holding dirt and dust - the green filter seems easy enough to blow clean, does the same apply to the paper one?

I don`t have anything against green panel filters or any type of panel filter but it just annoys me when people keep banging on about the extra power you get etc etc when you don`t get extra peak power just more induction roar and a slightly quicker responding turbo, there have been several tests done to prove this. A paper filter is an idiot proof air filter since there is no oil to add or clean with so no probable way to kill your MAF when replacing the air filter. Foam filters are better for filtration as long as you know what you are doing ( which is why dealer don`t fit them ) and more cost effective in the long run, as long as you don`t kill a MAF along the way!

Heh i was never under the impression there was more power available, just that they are able to breathe slightly better - i had a K&N on my old metro years ago, the same thing applied then - some people insisted on over oiling them. The only difference was less airflow, not a shafted MAF as they weren't in use then.

So neither Hudds, slick or uncleFester mention a dog bone mount or panel filter in their top five mods to do to a Leon. Care to comment on that jonjay or was there something else you found funny about my post?
I don't see where you getting at. Just because the others haven't put it in their top 5 list doesn't mean that my argument is wrong?

Anyway if you read my post I just put the easy and worth while mods up, that's all...and like a hero as you always have a go, that's why I am laughing mate because I was expecting you to do so.

Welcome to the site.

Easiest mods to do initial are:

Dogbone mount (a must for dervs)
Green Panel Filter

I was asking you to comment ie respond with some sort of intelligent comment so we could discuss why you might think a dog bone mount and panel filter where so important and why you thought my first post was so funny as that is the whole point of this forum for people to talk and give there point of view is it not? I didn`t attack you personally or in a threating manner as far as i am concerned as i don`t know who you are and your free to think what you like it makes no odds to me so i don`t see why you are getting so wound up and insulting me. If you have nothing positive or constructive to post why post anything at all?

I don't see anything wrong with a panel filter. if the turbo spools up faster, that must be a good thing.
Plus when companys quote gains in power vs stock, they rarely mean peak. If you gain power lower down the rev range, its normaly better. I'm from the ford scene originally (boo hiss) I knew someone who used his car @ power engineering uxbridge. They used a new paper filter vs kn panel vs cone. The car was a focus tdi. The panel had the best torque, the cone the best power. Paper was close if not same bhp as the panel if I remember right, but the torque increased nicely. It was featured in a ford mag.

Obviously we are talking about different cars here, but it can't be that different?!?

Devonmikeyboy,

If you feel insulted I apologise.

To the point, if you read my post i said

I stress the word Easiest. I didnt say Dogbone mount is the best mod ever and has to be done otherwise your car will never be fast or as good as anyone elses. This is what you make out I said hence my reaction to your posts.

Now to add something constructive to this post, the dogbone mount is a must because of vast amount of torque the PD dervs produce. Due to the torque the engine tries to twist and thus can cause a whole host of things to brake when the standard mount is shot. By replacing it you stop the engine from "twisting" and thus the power goes down to the tyres quicker hence the car feels more connected to the road.

Doing a simple search on here you hear nothing but great things about an uprated dogbone mount and I agree 100%.
