I did have a modded Saxo VTR my lover. Oh and a Revo'd PD150.

Waste of money.

Oh yeah IMO. Hardly ignorant though when I had 3 different sets of wheels on my Paxo & experienced the joy of a slipping clutch.

Waste of money?! lol I think my remap was the best cash i ever spent. Drove a stock PD150 the other day and it felt very flat in comparison.

You might be right in a way though as a mugs game, if you decide to spend many £000's on the car then want to sell it.
I think its only worth while spending loads on the car if you plan to keep it for many years or you dont care about losing the money you spent.

Imagine saving that money over the years and putting it towards your next purchase.

Imagine keeping the car long enough to enjoy it and the mods you've done - part of the fun of owning a car is doing stuff to it apart from just running it. I don't spent money on holidays, beer, going to football matches or whatever - at the end of the year i can see where my money has gone and i get to enjoy it every day :)

Doesn't make the car that much different though and you soon get bored or used to it.

Hahaha the only thing i've seen come to close to yours on roundabouts is one of them F1 Renault Megane things - funny that has an LSD too :)

Cars are a waste of money ultimately, no one would argue that - the key point is whether you enjoy it or not. if it wasn't cars you'd waste it somewhere else.

Personally have been in 'stock' LC Tdi i'm happy with the work i've had done to mine, whether it was worth it in someone elses eyes is a moot point.

Slicks car is pretty far away from mine after all the work and they both started off as similar beasts!

Fair enough modding might not be 'for you' but if other people want to do it let them be.

I appreciate this goes against your argumentative nature! ;)

Which I will happily do.

Slicks FR is without a doubt one of the best cars I've ever been in.

The grin it forced on my face was something else.
Loved every second of it.

The thing with modding is it's all down to personal taste if you want to do it & you enjoy it then go for it.
If it's not for you then fine.

I was a modifier at one stage & then moved away from it, however now I have the Cupra & have been in a tastely modified one the bug has bitten again & once I get the car running right then I too will be joining the modified crew on here but wont be taking it quite so far.

TBH my mum always says "your a long time dead" may as well enjoy your time while your here & if modifiying a car is one way to enjoy the time you have then go for it.
You never know whats round the corner better to have enjoyed the car you have noe then to think in "X" years time I could buy a Porsche...you may not live to see that long.

Enjoy what you have now.

Have you got new seats or something? Lazy boys?

I'm not calling you a liar. Would never do such a thing...

Yes i have actually, but that jsut the tip of the iceberg...

The list consists on to all sorts, Eibach coilovers, Struts upper and lower, new Sach clutch, Quaiffe diff, H&R anti roll bars, custom remapped, Porka brakes, 19" wheels, thats just a few parts, thats with out all the cosmetic parts...
I think far from your average Paxo owner modding trends....

I find that hard to believe.

So you'd say that MDS for example is wasting his time, as is Sixpot, Ruddmeister, Hooch, M0rk ... all those people who are changing their cars from standard? All those people on every car site the world over who modify their cars are all wasting their time ........or at least in your opinion anyway.

Problem is that whilst it's cool to have your own opinion, when an owner asks what upgrades - that usually means what upgrades do you want to fit, not "i don't think any upgrades are worth doing".

If the thread had been entitled, "Is it worth upgrading a car or not then it'd be an entirely different thread :)

Methinks you're outnumbered :cartman:

I did it in my past.

This stems back to this:

...you stating a revo 600 miles and 50mpg... well to get an average of that, you must have done over and above that 600 miles otherwise you had to get 600 miles out of every tank... which i find hard to believe.

So lets be grown up Andy and play nice.

Mugs game.

I did it in my past.

This stems back to this:

Actually no, it stems back to the first one which you completely failed to justify - that's the sole reason you were picked up on it.

By implying that anyone that does modify is a mug and therefore that somehow you are not is a bit of a sweeping generalisation, especially on a site where modification is a fairly major part of what goes on :)

If your past experience is so vast, why not share a bit of it and explain in clear detail exactly why you'd not do any of the modifications listed in this thread.

I'd love to hear you explain how my car handles better as stock without the rear ARB - in fact i'd really love you to explain that to me :)
