This is not directly mk 3 ibiza related so I might get in trouble for putting it here but I will try it anyway. I noticed that david_smith_909 had a crash in his car and the air bag did not deploy. I had a crash in a zetec s a few years ago and the air bag did not deploy. I know that you would not want the airbag going off with every slight knock or bump but I just wondered if anyone else had had any problems with airbags not going off.

I know my crash was in the Ford but found it strange the airbag did not go off as there was a lot of front end damage.

Just out of interest really to see if anyone has had a similar problem

I know that a lot of development went into airbag systems as they used to go off at a slight bump. Now they only go off when actually required and in those cases they obviously werent actually required

by the sounds of it daves crash wasnt at high speed and head on so not needed

and your crash, you sound like you came out fine, even though it looks bad

exactly!

I guess neither chinned the steering wheel, so apart from getting injured from the airbag going off - you're better off without it

I was very lucky but was still in hospital for a while after the accident. But I did cut my head open at the front which could of possibly been stopped if the air bag deployed but who knows.
