according to the runs they've done, Im losing 51 bhp through transmission. I can't help but think they've messed it up.

This is probably going to sound silly, but since the remap it goes a lot quicker. Quicker than just an extra 20bhp if that makes sense?

Suggest you try another rolling road. That's too much to lose through the transmission anyway. It does depend on the car, but you might be talking around 20% as a guestimate.

This makes for very interesting reading. Probably enough to start a new thread (maybe?). Measured is manufacturer's claimed figs vs wheel horsepower. Big variation in power losses, or conservative manufacturer's figs! ;)

I'm having the same problem... On my RR, I got 169hp on the flywheel, and 121hp on the wheels (loss of 58hp!)!

It was done in 5th gear... Could that be the problem maybe? Is it supposed to be done in 4th gear? (the guy that RR'd it said that if he does it in 4th, the session doesn't last as long as it should!)

Been 2 times to that RR, and the figures were the same. A friend went there with his Fabia vRS and got 129hp on the wheels...

But the thing is, that my car goes the same or maybe a touch better than his!

48 bhp mate :D

Renda: We're not doing as bad a Ad Lav, he's only got 48bhp!;):cartman:

I don't know what's happened with the rolling road. I always thought it was fourth for some reason. I know my old Mini was done in 4th but that is top gear! :D

I didn't think he took it in that lower revs either...i thought it went from lowest to high. Obviously not. Even the garage that did it said they are normally better than that.

As an example, a Skoda vRS rated at 129bhp actually produced 130 at the wheels.

As my thread suggests 130bhp atw seems to be what's expected for a standard 130Tdi engine. Any less for a remapped car and that's not good enough. Either the rolling road, operator or map at fault. For example, could have rollers which slip so you get a lower reading. You cannot possibly get readings atw and flywheel of the sort of differences being mentioned on here (ie 50bhp).

I thought all powers where from flywheel? Like if a car is advertised as 200bhp, i thought that was engine power? not wheel power?

my car is definitely quicker than it was. a lot.

and my old man said it went much better as standard than his Mk1 Leon 130 tdi.

The chap at the rolling road did say he thought it might have span a bit on the rollers 1st run...

I'm obviously good at math!:doh::happy:

Yella Beeza - the rr's where i've been measured quite a bit of 130pd cars, and nobody had such a huge difference as i did...

And i'm sure there was no slipping.

2 years ago i've been to some other rr and there it showed 130hp atw, but in 3rd gear! And 171hp atf, in 4th.

But since then i had trouble with my gearbox and i had it repaired, so might be something to do with that...

They should be run in 3rd gear, I know JKM do iirc, my mate's Golf 1.8T was run in 3rd gear and he got 157.1bhp standard x 3 times.

The 129bhp atw for the Fabia pretty much ties in with what you would expect from these engines.

Hi guys. I just thought something earlier today.....my car only came out to 158bhp.

When I went with my parents to test drive their Altea FR - my car honestly felt quicker. I know it's a smaller car and all that....but the lump in their FR is the 2.0 litre 170bhp diesel. And my car felt quicker? I know their Altea won't be run in as well as mine at only 6000 miles and that it is heavier....but it shouldn't make that much difference should it?

Im meant to be going to see my remapper on the 22nd so should find out what's happening. He's gonna check the MAF sensor for me and the boost and stuff. then go for a stronger map. YAY! :funk:

It's a bigger and more comfortable car, so it might seem to be slower, it actually could be quicker!

A friend of mine has a Octavia vRS tdi (170hp) and when he took me for a spin, it felt terribly slow, but I know it's not!

Good luck with the new remap!:funk:

I've been to 3 RR runs (twice in my Ibiza PD130 at Stealth & JBS, and one in my Passat at Awesome) and they were all done in 4th gear.

I suspect using 5th gear doesn't help.
