Instrument cluster out, cluster in, now won't start. Help!

This is embarrassing! :hide:

I've disconnected the instrument cluster X times before, but never had any problems with the immobilizer afterwards. The air bag lamp used to stay on, but that's easy to fix.

The key acts as it's not the right key anymore. Like the immobilizer chip is dead or not there at all. Starts up, then dies a sec later. Yellow lamp w key on blinks.

I've not got access to VAG-COM at the moment, so that's not an option.

Any idea is much appreciated!

Double check the connectors are the rite way round if they can be put in both ways dont think you wud get that wrong but worth a look.i know 1 of my friends had that prob start then died from that

Thanks, but they're in at the right place and in the right way.
I don't think it's possible to do that wrong.

Did your friend do this on a Leon?

Check your key, to see if the immboliser chip at the bottom hasnt broke of, causing it not to register with immboliser.

I'm getting nervous, the car is street parked now and the car behind me got it's side window smashed the previous night. [:@]

I need to gather some strength and push the car approx 200 metres to the garage. :cry:

Unfortunately did the checking of plugs not help. I pushed the plugs in hard. Still unable to start for more than a sec.

Rob, did you've the yellow lamp w key on blinking when this happened to you?
I ask because if the blue connector is not properly in place, my cluster don't show lamps at all.

Car has to stay outside this night too. I've not noticed the slight uphill on the street until now. But it's there! [:@]

My old work (it was a main dealer) was on a hill and I was the lucky guy that had to push cars up it and onto the site...get a few mates to help you and you'll be fine.

Maybe the immobiliser has lost its setting, that needs to be reconfigured at SEAT unfortunately :(

Are there any loose wires going into the plug?

Few mates around where I live, unfortunately.

I find it strange that the immobiliser loses it's settings the same day I fiddle around with the cluster.

Luckily I've become "friend" with a SEAT tech, unfortunately he's in bed with fever at the moment. When he gets out, he'll be heading over here with a VAS tool. I just hope things can be sorted "on site" here.

No loose wires that I can see, but as you know, there's not just "a couple" of wires back there!
