Seat Strut Brace

So I'm looking at buying a front strut brace for my 1.9 TDi - worthwhile ?

considering I'm getting it remapped to 150hp soon, and then taking it to the Nurburgring again next year . . . .

It's more for show rather than providing any actual handling advantage, as there's not much flexing of the car's body under heavy cornering anyway.

Get one, as they do look very nice under there, just don't expect miracles from it...

I didnt find much of a difference with the handling when it was on, only noticed the difference when I took mine off.

Also bear in mind, with a strut brace fitted if the car is in an accident and gets shunted or bumped at the front at one side, the strut brace will also move the force to the other side so both sides would be affected.

Well worth it. I am very surprised at some of the above comments. A front upper strut brace should make a lot of difference when turning as the whole front of the car will flex less. Diesel engines are a lot heavier then the petrol versions which means that an upper strut brace should be the first handling mod done to the car.

Can anyone who has / had one tell me - are they a simple bolt onto existing studs/bolts and torque up ?

Well I'm interested in that last comment, because I'm quite alarmed by the amount of understeer I get on my TDi. Considering I had the same engine in a Passat (OK it's heavier) and I don't think I EVER had any understeer in that.

Is it the lower profile tyres? Or the lack of weight over the driving wheels?
Anyway, I'm going to get one BEFORE I get the re-map done !!

Ive got a forge adjustable strutbrace on mine, seems to have helped alot, turns in better and just seems to feel abit more positive!
