Hi,

I have a Seat Ibiza 1.4 Cool/s (2000) and need to change the pads and disks, hopin you guys can advise. Been lookin for a haynes manual but realised they dont cover this model. Did find a couple of dvd manuals on ebay, anyone know if these are cool or not?

I had a quick look today to see what I needed an it looked well different to my old pug which i done before. Anyway, can anyone give me some tips:
1. On how how the calliper comes apart, is this what is covered by the 2 short rubber tubes on the inside of the unit?
2. To get the disk off do i have to release the nut on the driveshaft?

Thanks in advance,

Ash.

i dont know how similar this is to the cupra so sorry if its wrong.

the caliper comes off with those 2 bolts you mentioned with the rubber covers on the other side. A socket on the out side and a spanner holding the nut next to the rubber. To get ther caliper carrier off theres 2 larger bolts behind the disc, they should be pretty easy to see. Take them off.

Then to get the disc off theres a little phillips head bolt on the front of the disc, undo that and the disc will come away.

If its the same as that, they're easy as pie.

neighbour and I did mine - parts from local car parts firm BUT there are 2 thicknesses of pads and, guess what, they didn't tell us that AND the ones that we were sold were slightly thicker that the alternative ones . . . . ho hum.. so make sure that you get the right ones or else they won't fit!"

Yeh in those rubber tubes there are 2 bolts and 2 sleves (per caliper). To get it off pull the top end of the caliper out (might need a hit with a hammer) and then it's straight forward from there.

You don't have to take off the nut on the driveshaft, the disc will just pop off once you have the caliper off (unless those little bolts are still intact (which mine weren't but they are honestly really pointless)

Cheers Sandro, I know the bits you mean. Did you reuse those rubber covers, or do they just split when you take em off?

GottaIbizaMk3 - The pad thickness relates to the disks you have. If i remember correctly the vented disks need the thinner pads.

You should be able to loosen both caliper retaining bolts (13mm spanner) and remove the lower one, swing the caliper up, hinging it on the top one for pad replacement.
If doign disks also, then you need to remove the caliper carrier also, 2 x 17mm bolts on the rear. (tight as)
Disk is retained by a cross head screw. Impact driver usually req'd to "shock" it undone, but get a spare as they often shear off.
