OK, another problem with this damn car. cupra 2.0 8v

My centre box blew last night. Went into local garage to get it checked, turns out the weirdo before i had the car has welded the joining pipe from cat to centre box. If i replace the center pipe i need to replace the cat.

The centre box pipe is blown from the fixing mount and cant be fixed.

Has anyone had to replace the cat in their car, how much does it cost usually?

Also, i was planning on fitting the mk3 20v exhaust on, do i need to get an 8v cat then fit system back or is the cat on the mk3 20v the same? How much did it cost for the mk3 system?

Alright,

My exhust is startin to play up so i took it to a garage and it was the same story, the muppet before me welded the cat to the manifold. I was told by the exhust bloke just to buy a 'cherry bomb cat' and hell do the work for 100.

3 questions-

1- How much am i lookin for a cat?

2- Is 100 fair for labour?

3- Did u find out if the Mk3 exhust did fir or not?

thanks

just replaced my cat on my 95 8v. cat cost £55 from ebay + fitting

welding up the exhaust is quite commen as its a pain in the arse trying to get a proper seal on a system with a back box only, actually i'm doing mine next week:whistle:

IIRC the mk 3 cupra exhaust fits onto the mk2 as a direct replaement but maybe you might need a reducer

£100 labour charge is a bit much really but it depends how much yor garage charges per hour. mine is around £32 per hour

why not do it yourself?
