Ok - if I walk into a Seat Dealer and want to buy a 1.4 FS how much do you think I should pay for it?

i got my (pre-facelift) cupra brand new for £11500 after trade, also from a SEAT dealership. so theres no way i would pay £9000 for a 1.4!

Think it has the 100bhp engine in it aswell.

Yep - gonna trade in my beeza (see below) not in good condition bodwork wise but good runner. Expect £700 for it ?

I reckon about £900 part-ex for yours if it's not in too bad nick. You could always try and sell it private for £1500 or so?
Start with the dealer at £7K cash plus your trade in. And you want 12 months tax, free mats, full tank of fuel, gap insurance, paintwork protection etc. thrown in. And you want to keep any tax off yours as well.
They can only say no. But it's a reasonable starting point without taking the piss too much.
Errm. But you paid £13,500 less £500 haggling. So it really cost you £13000 not 11,500.
In my world £4000 is a lot of doe! I do 30,000 miles/year too so I'm aiming at the 1.4 to keep petrol reasonable. Plus performance would be wasted on my driving style which I have to say is pretty slow! lol
Sadly, these days my main concerns are:
a) Can I get a child seat in it
b) Does it have aircon
c) DAB radio please
d) MP3 socket
e) handsfree kit
But if it happens to look the part - then I'm all for it! Thus my choice of the 1.4FS
My current beeza has a huge scratch down one side where some t*4t keyed it and lots of dents. So am not looking forward to the p/x haggle!

Yes I have considered diesel but [without boring you with the calculations] based on Seat official fuel consumption figures I would only save £500 over 100,000 miles.
This is because the cost of buying the diesel in the first place is considerably more than the 1.4. Over the 100,000 miles the extra dosh would be sat in my savings account earning interest too - so it would actually be less than £500.
My 1.4 MK3 has been reliable and the fact that the 3 year warranty covers me for the first 60,000 miles - reliability does not become an issue.
Another thought is that it is everything around the engine that has gone wrong on my MK3 (tyres,exhaust,starter motor,sensor,front shocks,brakes etc)
So I maintain my opinion that on a small car like the beeza it is not worth buying a diesel ... on larger cars I can see that it could be worth it and if you do a lot of towing etc.
