Hi i'm Mark, i'm new to the forum game so here it goes.

I have an ibiza pd130 on an 03 plate. i've just had a custom remap the other day, and now the clutch slips quite badly in 4, 5 and 6th gear. not too shore what to do, i know these cars use the DMF (dual mass flywheel). I've been told to get the clutch and flywheel replaced with standard manifactured parts. then another place said just replace the clutch for a sports one.

Has anyone had this happen before with a remap, and what have they done about it?

Thanks

Now which way?

Hi and welcome to SCN

If you use the search function you will find plenty on this.

Yes a remap can contribute to premature clutch failure, and the solution is to fit an uprated clutch. Some people also fit a lightened flywheel at the same time, but the costs mount up.

My 2005/05 Ibiza TDI FR was mapped up to 206BHP, but had "only" 388Lbs/Ft of torque. The stock clutch in the car is only rated to 300, so naturally had it replaced. Jabba motorsports did that all for me, for a cost of £680 for the clutch (inc fitting). It was another £480 for the re-map, but worth every penny.

After 10,000 miles on the re-map, everything else in the car was still running ok, so you got no worries on that count... The brakes were a little weak, and were on the list of things to upgrade before I sold it...

if you dont want to spend the extra money stick beow the 300lb ft torque range and it wont slip anymore but just change the clutch otherwise with a lightened flywheel they make a slight knocking noise doesnt bother me but would most people on here!

the thing is the place where i had it done (motorsport developments) said it would go up by 50lbs and 45bhp that only takes it too 280lbs and 175bhp, so it shouldn't slip at that? the car has done 86k but in the history it had a new clutch fitted at 40k due to a dual mass flywheel problem. dont know why they changed the clutch and not the flywheel.

ye could be because i went for a spin before and couldn't get it to slip. then i found its when i boot it from 2000 rpm its slips to 2400 rmp then drops back to 2300 rpm. lol i wish i came on here before i had it done, i've not got 700 quid spare at this time, my insurance is next month which is 800 quid lol. bad timing

thanks for the replys, so where is the best place for me to buy sports clutch? i've seen this place on ebay ( http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-GOLF-SKODA...oryZ9889QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem ) any good?
Piece of crap mate. If you do a search it has been talked about before if you want to know why. To fit a clutch you are talking about a good £200 labour so you only want to do it once really so stick to Helix or Sachs. Cheapest way to uprate the clutch is to buy just the pressure plate and stick with your stock drive disc

Unless you have uprated your turbo to a Garret GT1749V from a PD 150/160 from the small KKK stock turbo on your car those figures are impossible basically and 388LB torque would make your car smoke like hell. Mikey H has just had a Jabba VNT 17/20 hybrid turbo fitted with a very smokey map and he has nowhere near that torque level. 388 nm = 286lb torque which is what you more likely got.

The car smoked something chronic under full throttle, almost like a mobile smoke screen. I'm gonna have a hunt around for the dyno graph for the car, as it's torque output was not as low as 286Lbs/Ft, otherwise I would have left the stock clutch on there...

The turbo was not changed, could not afford it. The car had the clutch upgraded as you know, and a hacked-up pipercross air filter with a cold air feed we run down to the lower front of the car, near where the towing hook would attach to the pre-facelift ibiza's. Jabba then gave the car the full on custom re-map. It never drove the same afterwards...

I know you can only go by the dyno graph givern to you but there is no way in hell a PD130 with a KKK turbo would make 206bhp and 388lb torque and stay in one peice. CC phase 2 for your car with an uprated air filter, exhaust and FMIC only advertises :
Custom Code Options:

Power
Stock 130 bhp 229 lb torque
Phase One 170-175 bhp Torque ft/lb 270-280

Phase Two 175-185 bhp Torque ft/lb 280-310
