that second link is probably best then for my High Beam H1's! Sounds good them! Will order some up! cheers for help guys, lets see how close to the HID H7's they look :D

They won't be a close match, but they are hardly used long term and when they are needed they are excellent.
If i get chance i will get a pic of them in action tonight and post it up for you too see?

Heres a couple of pics to give you an idea:
sorry for quality....
Lights off, blue bulb is the H1

As you can see the white is nothing like the blue of the HID's, but from a distance they blend well like a proper Xenon light, and they light up the dark country roads very well.

Davey, I got those very leds from ebay for around 3 quid each, same yellow collar and bright white light with the slightest hint of crisp blue, no mention of piaa though.

Looks like you had a bargain then!
Mine were ALOT dearer than that, but after trying cheaper brands and finding one set only had one bulb working, and the replacement set blew a bulb with 3 days, i decided it might be cheaper in the long run to get a decent set.

Bit late to the party, but here none the less...

I've got H7 & H1 HID's in my LC and haven't had problems as yet (touch wood)

They are a bit of a pain to fit, as you have to DIY an earth loom, as OE H1 bulbs use the metal part of the bulb as the -ve return, where as the HID's have 2 leads from the bulb.

Like I said mine have been fine, and have been on there for about 6 months now.

Flash isn't a problem as you get a natural flash from the HID when they initally start up,

I have been warned about the reduced life time of them, but MYDEPOTS do replacement bulbs for about the same price as top end Halogen blubs anyway, so I figure I'm not lossing out much...will just have to see how the ballasts stand up to the test of time...

I did do a mini How-To for the H1's and there should be pic's of the earth loom that I made for the job somewhere...I'll check my Photobucket for the image if it's still there...

Only thing I would say about your current HIDs not being quite bright enough is that 6400k bulbs are a little too blue for my liking...I'm running 4300k and they are like daylight just on dipped beam...won't even go into what it's like once the H1's are running too ;)

For what its worth (HA!) one of my ballasts failed inside a year and they are dipped beam so they are by no means indestructable, they were also a fairly reputable make (still from china or taiwan though) but they are so modular that you can just go out (or stay in) and buy a single replacement.

does the H1's still require all this faffing with wiring guys?

I'm afraid so.

It's fairly simple tho...this is a pic of the DIY loom that is needed...sorry about the pic quality, but you get what I mean...

anyone make those lomos, i know it looks easy but im rubbish at those kind of things!

Are you able to get ebay kits yet for H1?

Do you just buy the normal H1 kit and use that loom?

Info and Pics would be ace!

It's really easy...2 crimps & 2 bits of wire.

As for the H1 kits do you mean HID kits, or the looms?

I have got all of my HIDs from mydepots.com, just select the bulb type needed (H1)
