lightened flywheel

Noticed how well your car engine breaks? Well say bye bye to that! Its not going to help going up hills either. People say it does make a big differance on ABF's. The price would be dependant on whether you can take it off your self. Probably wouldnt be over 70 quid to actually get it done by someone with a prescion milling machine. Im not too sure about the balancing of it though.
dave has just had it done. have a search. He said he couldnt notice becuase of the change in ratios done at the same time.

i could fit it my self but if it is more bad than good might keep my money for something else.

Anti roll bars. 28mm rear and 25mm front. Availiable from badger bill. 20mm or 15mm rear spacers. Good pads and discs.
Well at Volksfest sunday I finally met Greg.... rev'ed my car and then he rev'ed his, ever notice how long it takes to come back down to idle???
Well half that time!
You won't really loose torque as the standard flywheel is 22lbs and with it lightened it's 11.8lbs so even with it lightened it's still heavy compared to the 8v flywheel that weights 5. (something) lbs standard!
If I didn't have the gearbox ratio's at the same time I could give you more infor but the car does pick up very well!

And after it's lightened

a guy on edition 38 called RWD18T does them for £80 exchange i think

Think it's between £70-£80. I have felt the weight of an 8v flywheel and its sooooo much lighter than the 16v's.
8v your own compression plate is needed to balance the flywheel but with the 16v it can be balance on it's own to "zero"
And I do recommend changing the clutch, I had a spare clutch kit in my room but decided not to change it as the clutch was only 9months old.... after a day of driving my thrust bearing went to had to remove the gearbox again.
Search for 3.94 final drive and there's part numbers in there of bolts that I changed when I removed the g'box... driveshaft bolts, seals, flywheel bolts & compression plate bolts....etc

cheers for the replys. if i aint gana lose much torque then i might get one as i got to do a clutch change soon.
the heavy clutch means you can hit the redline again quickly - it is an auto rev maintaining device! people should pay more for one of those! jesus... am i clutchin at straws??

Yea it's the old flywheel turned down
And greg pop down bridgend one night and I'll take you out in it for a spin!
Can't see how because you not changing the properites of the material (ie... heat treating it). The bloke that done mind has done loads of flyhweel for the boys on cgti and he haven't had any back broken!
