Leon MK1 remote key programming

Hi All.

I know my question is too stupid, but i need your help.

So i read all of the instructions in the forum in this case but no one working for me.

I have a new key with two remote button on it.

I want to make it ready for my car (Leon 2001year TopSport 1.8T 20v) the ccm is 1c0 959 799 f

So if you have any working instruction for this car it will very apprectiable...

I bought the key for a vendor from china

firstly try the door lock to make sure the central locking works anyway - always worth a check

this will sound daft but bear with me you will need 2 keys - not neccesarily remotes just a second one that you can use in the ignition

right ya ready (read through it first to get the run down)

1 - get both keys - the one with the remote (A) and the normal key (B)

2 - note this must be done within 30 seconds as the synchro process cuts off after that (all will be revealed)

3 - make sure the car is unlocked and the window open before you start

4 - use key (B) to switch on the ignition (lights on dash NOT startup)

5 - use key (A) to lock the drivers door manually (ie key in the door lock) or NS if you have the 2002 on model with only one door lock

6 - now UNLOCK then LOCK the drivers door WHILST HOLDING the unlock button on the remote

7 - once done take key (B) out of the ignition - sorted


PS - even though its lighting up its best to change or at least test the battery(ies) for a minimum of 3v any less then change them - see http://www.seatcupra.net/knowledge_b...ge_guide..html for help and a guide how

any trouble let me know - ill help if i can - and just be glad pedro didnt add spin round 3 times and stand on one knee to the procedure - its daft enough as it is - lol

note the above only solves the remote locking part - the passive built in immobiliser will need to be coded in by a dealer or vag com user

Old post I know, but I just used Fl@pper's instructions to the letter and it worked a beauty, couldn't find those instructions anywhere else on seatcupra.net so thanks

Hi - sorry to bring up this old thread again, but I'm looking to get a flip key for my car too.

I was just hoping someone could clarify this bit for me...

the passive built in immobiliser will need to be coded in by a dealer or vag com user

Can this be avoided at all? If I swapped the little transponder thingy (i think that's the technical term) from my spare key, and put it in the flip key, would this sort it?

Got the key, put it all together, tried Fl@pper's instructions but no joy.

I've put the transponder in the flip key, and have also had the blade cut, so I can manually unlock the car with the flip key, as well as start it up... but I'm damned if I can get the remote to work (the battery is brand new, and the little red led on the key flashes)!

Looking through the forums I've found numerous different methods for recoding the remote (some of which are very similar, albeit not quite the same)... but none of them seem to work. The methods I've tried in addition to Fl@pper's instructions are:

To code the remote you need the old original key in the ignition with it turned on.
Then lock the door with the new key and the remove key.
Then press unlock and horn will blip, wait 6 second and press unlock again.
The key is now coded to your car !


1 ignition on to red lights on dash
2 turn off immediately and pull key out
3 HOLD 1 of the buttons down (dont matter which)
4 PRESS the other 3 times ( with a SLIGHT pause) 1 . 2 . 3
5 watch led on key (should flash) and doors usually try lock/unlock
6 turn ignition key back on to red lights and wait 5 sec
7 key out again and test operation



How to program VW remote keys

1. Take the valet (original) key, put it into the ignition and turn the key to the
"on" position, just prior to starting the car.

2. Roll down the driver's side window (not required, but a good idea in
case there's a problem).

3. Exit the car and close the door.

4. With a second key, physically lock the doors (don't use a remote).

5. Take the first remote to be programmed, press one of the buttons and
the lights will flash once. Wait 10 seconds and press the unlock
button.

The doors should unlock. That first transmitter is now programmed.

But i'm getting no joy with any of them!

Can anyone suggest what might be wrong? My car is a 2001 Y plate, but the key is quite a new VW one... my understanding from other threads on here was that the 433/434Mhz thing doesn't matter, but could it be that newer keys don't work with older cars?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Took me a couple of times with Fl@ppers instructions, including one rather random point where the horn sounded.

Mine is 2002 51 plate so not a great deal older (and not face lift model).

By the way I think at least one of those other instructions is for an ibiza.

Still no joy - i've tried Fl@pper's method multiple times, as well as trying holding the lock button instead (just incase), locking it and unlocking it over and over.

daniel_owen_uk - which model of flip key do you have? Is it the newer style one like this:

I'm having a problem with this as well. Just bought the car and remote c/l doesn't work. I had a look at the key, and first reason for it not to work was that the battery was in the wrong way. Sorted this, and now LED does at least flash, but i can't get teh re teach to work at all.

The instruction is in the handbook. Does it matter about the door?? manual says leave it open, which is what i've done, rather than shut with window open

i used the thread on the ibiza forum to programme my leon flip key but when i did i lost my kvw 100 auto close window function.
they used to auto close when locking the doors now they don't i have to hlod the buttons.
so if you programme a new key you will lose this function and will have to get another kvw100 unit.

you are 50% right.

when adapter a new remote to your car, your will lose the "auto close" function.
but you still can hold on the "lock" button to close the windows.
and also you do not need a new kvw100 to update to "auto close" again. (anyway a new kvw100 can not update your car either)

you can follow this way:

If you add a new key FOB you will lose the "One touch" roll up feature. You can still perform the hold "lock" button roll up.

You can restore the new key FOB for the "One touch" roll-up feature with the following steps:

Put your key into the ignition and turn the ignition switch to "ON", there is no need to start the vehicle
Plug the used KVW100 (must be the one u update your car before) into your OBD-II interface plug. Make sure it is a snug fit. The KVW100 will give a single long beep, once it is fitted properly
When the green led light on the KVW100 is on, hold the driver’s door "lock" button
When you hear a long beep from the KVW100 again, release the door "lock" button
Wait for 2 minutes you will hear kvw100 give 3 short beep then pull it out "

you will have "auto close " again.

didn't try that, was told i had to get another unit?
does this work for the new flip key?
or does it have to be the key you programmed in at 1st (blip key)

no you do not need another kvw100 .
it will work for the new FIP.
