Poor Radio Signal

Hello, i've put a new JVC headunit in my car which is a 52 plate Leon Cupra, since putting it in i don't seem to get very good reception, the headunit does its best to re-tune itself to the strongest signal but it can't find anything sometimes and i just get a load of hissing. Is there a cheap solution to this or would people recommend getting the DAB add on for the radio? Any help would be much appreciated.

You need an aerial booster. Do an search on ebay, there are tons.

Are the ariel boosters big and where abouts do they go, i asume they go behind the headunit somewhere but its pretty tight on space behind it.

This is an aerial booster. There is plenty of room behind the headunit for it.

Caraudiodirect or nexxia.co.uk sell them.

Mine is like that only with a big bit of foam padding around it - makes it a tight squeeze!

that wire connects to your "ant rem" wire.
mine was a solid blue wire and that was on a sony.
what head unit have you got.

I've got a pioneer head unit. Going out to have a look now, wasnt sure if the blue wire meant it was neutral or it was just colour coded

I tried fitting the booster to my car ages ago and found sitting on my drive way with it connected and touching the blue wire on every contact and cable just made the signal crap and couldn't pick anything up, so put it back the way it was and i can pick a few stations up on my drive but when i go near the M25 or round it i loose signal and just get a constant hiss.

Sorted now, for future reference these boosters need to have the blue cable connected to the remote power cable. 5-Live football commentary here we come!

Anyone know why this is a problem in the Leon?? Just seems a little odd. I've clearly got the same problem as i just fitted my Kenwood head unit that was origionally in my Clio 172. It was fine in the Clio, but in the Leon i have nothing on AM (only need 5 live!!!) and FM is nothing special, R1 is ok - but everything else is nothing special.

Have you read this thread?, have you fitted an aerial booster as above?. That should solve the radio issues. :)

After reading this thread i bought one of these! As i said the volume of the stations is very low in comparison to the CD for example. I can tune in all the stations no problem just can't hear them and when i turn the volume up it just sounds ****!

Anyway i bought one of these boosters and it has not made the slightest bit of difference!! Do you just connect the loose wire to a 12v supply? I tried very connection anyway but still made no odds! :(
