VR6 Into Ibiza

Right Ive got a wrote off Corrado VR6 and my mate is going to put engine and box into my Ibiza GTI 8v.
He is pretty at engines so should be able to it ok but he wants to know what he does with subframes, will it go on the Ibiza one or does he have to do cuttin and weldin etc????
Any help from someone who has done this before would be much appreciated!!!

I think only one person has done this before. And i dont think they come on much.

I think you will need a custom subframe.

Since you need a custom subframe, put it in the back! RWD FTW

Use the subframe in your Ibiza, but you'll need to use the Golf VR6 engine mounts I think. Otherwise it sounds like an easy enough swap. One thing you will need is uprated springs up front, the springs need to be stiffer for the extra weight.

Only difference on the subframes between the golf and the ibiza were mounting points for the power steering pipe on the front one!

not strictly true - some Ibiza's have different mounts to others.... - so the subframce won't bolt onto the car *sometimes*

VR6 engine is only 25kg's heavier than a 20vT lump, so handling isn't 'that' bad in comparison.....
