hoover noise from cupra

sometimes when i start the engine, theres a suction noise from the hose that clips onto the side of the air box, ive traced it back and it goes to a black pump like thing on the front of the block quite low down. why does it sometimes operate and sometimes not? whats it purpose? its emabarissing when it comes on.

it only does it when i start the car, it runs for about 2minutes then goes off. it also makes the exhaust sound rough.

can some one advise me?

secondary air pump, does the same on mine, its nothing to worry about

what does it do though? why does it suck the air from the the air box? it sounds rough when it kicks in. what would happen if i disabled it?

nothin would happen if you disable it, can remove it totally like a have, few others have removed it too

Evening, ditch it, makes an oil change so much easier! lol.

Its only there for US emissions really. Only problem of doing it is you might throw up a fault code.
