My passenger one works fine but my driver window tends to go half way up then decided it doesn't like going up and comes back down then I have keep my finger on the button thing make it got right to the top once its had it's fit. Used do my nut in but I've learnt live with it now because I just don't see the expense in getting mine done

Might be a loose wire ? Im sure you have been using them more with the hot weather kicking in so it might just be one of the wires has come a bit loose.

my driver one is doing the same thing as yours! the window thinks the half way is the top of the window!

is it me or one of my posts about induction kits in here?

I saw that but, kinda wondered why it was in with a thread about electric windows  Are you trying to steal my Queen of randomness crown ? ;) You will have a fight on your hands.

On another note you could try having a look to make sure nothing is jammed in the lifting mechanism or that a wire isnt loose.

I think the thread has got a little confused :) The other one in this section about electric windows, looks in fact to be gillie's reply to this thread. And we have a random induction kit post - think amod might need to be called to move a few posts.

Anyway - Sooz, your problem may be very simple to fix, its to do with the safety closure on the electric windows. As they go up, if they sense any obstruction (like, a head!) they will go back down again. Sometimes the runners get sticky, so the windows sense and obstruction that isn't there - you just need to lubricate the runners with some silicone spray and you may well find it fixed :)

Dirt can cause the window to stop and go back down - it's a safety mechanism to make sure nothing gets jammed in the window (like a kid's head!)....after it goes down, the automatic mechanism to move it automatically up doesn't work - again a safety mechanism....happened my car a few times when I bought it, but stopped after a few uppsie downsies of the window....must have cleared the obstruction!

I dont have the luxury of electric windows :( wondering if fitting a kit might be a mission or something easy ? Sound like a practical choice :) Do you have leccy window's nic ?

Nope, no leccy windows, airbag, ABS, central locking, air-con - in fact now I have the harnesses in, I don't even have my pre-tensioning seatbelts

I've tried the majority of things now. It doesnt stop half way just comes straight back down. Had a few of my friends look at it after I had a good go. I cleaned all the strips and things and it worked fine...for some what of about 3days then decided it didn't like acting normal like normal windows. Then I tried vaseline and that failed, you name it I've probably tried it...ain't fussed I ain't going a garage sort it though...I refuse

My passenger side does that, when its fully down you try to put it up, then it stops half way, then goes back down? SEAT crap.

I know on the drivers side I had a problem with the window not working at all :(, I removed the switch and swapped the connectors round (so it could be tested using passenger side switch) and it worked fine, meaning it was the switch.

Got a switch from SEAT ( 6X0 959 855 B ) for about a tenner and that sorted it.

As for the up and down thing, my passenger side has always done it since I bought it and i am still yet to diagnose it. When I have time I will probably have another bash but its just too tedius messing with the door and mechanism in this nice hot weather :)
