SEAT wheel alignment costs?

Hi... The story goes:


Coming off the back of 4x13hr shifts (I have to make it clear I was tired) I had to quickly avoid a car pulling out of a junction like a crazy bugger on the other side of the road, I turn (to give him the obligatory scowl) and turn back just to clip the kerb with my back nearside wheel as I was turning into my street. I puntured the tyre and put a gash in the wheel So I jacked the car up and left it on the spacesaver for a few days until my wheel was refurbed and I had 2 new tyres on the back.


I drove it to my work this morning tho and I noticed that the steering wheel was a bit off center, driving and braking straiight tho, but the car also feels a bit skittish when I'm driving near the speedlimit (which side I'll leave to your imagination) -- I took it to a place who does laser alignment but he said they couldn't do 4 wheel alignment and I'd need to take it to SEAT? Does anyone know what they'll charge roughly for this service?


P.S I've checked underneath the car, nothing looks obviously bent or distressed and I was only going 10-15mph so I'm not too worried anything will be knackered at the back?

Take it to a place that does 4 wheel alignment then. Plenty of places can do it, well there are plenty around here.

I usually take mine to my local Pro-Tyre as they use decent machines that are accurate unlike the places that still use the cheap shitty bolt on your wheels technology

Theres no camber adjustment on the rear.

Somethings bent/misaligned.

Yeah if you have hit the rear then iam afraid it could have damaged the rear axle on one side.

There is no Toe or camber adjustment on them so you may require a new rear axle.

Also are you sure it was only the back wheel that clipped the kerb, you could have also damaged the front but not noticed due to the mess at the back ??

I was up seeing Jim @ Star Performance today, they have a brand new 4 wheel alignment tool just installed in the last few weeks - worth givving him a call

Just to update -- As I posted previously the axle wasn't bent in any way, I took it to SEAT for the alignment and they charged £45inc vat for anyone who wants to take theirs to a dealer. I mentioned I had hit the kerb and they said they'd take a look , but never said anything when I picked it up (I'm sure they'd try to fleece me for the least little thing cos they wanted to charge me £27 to check the EM light! and had wanted initially another £27 to straighten the steering wheel) so I'm confident it's fine.

The car feels fine again... still needs better suspension, but fine for OEM shocks and springs.


So all in all for kerbing my wheel the total stands at ~£200

Did SEAT do all four wheels as well as the front cambers? I've been quoted £95 for 4 wheels laser alligned + the two front cambers done. I thought that was pricey.

I've just had coilovers fitted, so its needs done big time.

Glassy80 take it to a place in Farnham next to the sports center. They have been recommended to me as Iv recently had my coilovers fitted and need the same as you doing.
