best remap for lcr 225

im getting a leon cupra r 225 i want to no which is the best remap to get?

But you wont find the answer to your question! I searched long and hard, no one will tell you which is best as no one knows!

I went for Custom-Code as it was at a decent price and the installer was very local to me (if anything goes wrong etc)

Just to re-word that a bit, if you don't mind:

No one can tell you what "the best" remap** is, as everyone has different criteria/requirements. It has to be "the best" for you, people will gladly give you advice on choosing - they'll happily tell you why they made their choice, but anyone telling you which one is best is "forcing" their view on you, and you should avoid that.

The decision used to be a hard one, but it must be even harder now as there are loads more offerings out there.

Don't be fooled by hype/figures - look at functionality, cost and above all, service.

All maps will differ slightly, some companies can offer different types of mapping.

Our normal mapping is smooth, and pull throughout the rev-range to the red-line. If however, you prefer a map that pulls aggressively lower down, we can do this. More aggressive maps will tail off sooner though

Have a read and search the forum, you can read various reviews ;)

My company installed the Custom Code Map on ICUJEDI's LCR, and i will say to you what i said to him. When choosing a map, you have to consider the following. Your driving style and what you want, Smoothness, drivability and adaption of the map to further mods

I have noticed the revo has harsh torque low-mid rev range but tails off where as the custom code is much smoother and provides power all the way through the rev range which ICUJEDI can back up!! The custom code map also come in 3 phase's, which means you can slowly build your vehicle into a MONSTER. The map applied to ICUJEDI's LCR 210 was the phase one and it easily got us past 150 mph.

have to agree with team_ccd as I had the stg1 map on my ibiza a few years ago, it was VERY agressive....too agressive for the almost standard form the car was in, and giving the result of too much torque, therefore too much heat soak for the poor little smic, and therefore the power was peaking at 4700rpm.

Would have been better to have a less agressive map applied to the car from Revo, or their map not to be so agrressive so to take into account factors like the smic where it cannot cool the car as efficiently to cope with power like that and spread the power across the range, allowing the smic to perhaps cope a bit better

I would like quite an agressive map, but I don't want it to be gutless top end of the revs,
I personally will be choosing to speak to John Berry @ Bedrock VeeDubs in Motherwell,
Some of the Scottish fellas on here do swear by Star tho!
Everyone wants somethin diff from a map, there are choices,
all people can do is give there views and opinions and its down to personal choice!

OOooooh can we start talking about the benefits of Custom Remaps vs Generic Remaps for Phase 1 :cartman:

Cos my airfilter means I get .001 gs more than the OEM panel filter and according to my maths this equates to 1lbt/ft more of torque and .05bhp......on the road the extra .05bhp really tells.

Mark for an unbiast opinion take Feels advice above, do yourself a bit of searching and work out the Pro's and Con's of whats available

Also think about who you are investing your money in if things go wrong, distance back to the tuner etc

Revo can't be that bad.. I'm yet to see another Stage 1 LCR match or beat the 1/4 mile time my tank managed..

what is this myth about chipped cars magically helping you to set good 1/4 mile times?????

it plays a "slight" part but its down to the driver

been to santapod, and seen many a Scooby setting 15/16's 1/4 mile times - WHY? because its how you put the power down and how skillful a driver you are to get a good time, not the remap!!

His point was, yes it takes a good driver (personally I think it's down to the amount of hair gel he uses - less drag), but there can't be anything "wrong" with Revo as he can set good times with it.

Good Driver + Good Car = Good Time
Bad Driver + Good Car = Bad Time
Good Driver + Bad Car = Bad Time

Anyway, miles off topic (as usual).


@Mark - first decide if you want switching + timing (i.e. Fuel Type)/boost adjustment - that narrows your choice down to 3 + possibly one (RS Tuning mentioned they were launching switching IIRC). This is a slippy slope, because once you have the ability to really fiddle (SPS3, V-Tune), you really need to get vag-com to do some logging to see the results. Then you'll spend your live wanting to go out logging, loose all your friends (apart from the ones that have a laptop with a battery that holds charge) and spend every other waking hour searching for Shell stations that sell V-Power.

The companies that offer switching etc. usually offers trials, although the trial code is not always the same as the full code, and some of them offer XX day money back deals. The cheaper ones, might also offer trials, but yo might have to ask/suggest/beg - I don't really know.

If you don't, you can go cheaper, but I would make sure that whoever you go with knows the 1.8T very well - you can have problems, not with the code/remap but with boost leaks, coilpacks, N75, sensors etc. Easy to fix if you can diagnose the problem. If the mapper's first reaction is "the code's fine, mate" then you're in a world of pain, if they suggest you bring it in for them to have a look, then you're not.

One thing's for sure, they remap really well - you'll love it.
