Cupra_Jeff - what does yours boost at with revo stage 2 and k03s?

When i used to have the K03s and stage 2 i saw around 20psi on the overboost and maybe 13-14psi at the redline i think. If you gave it one in 4th or 5th then I'd see around 23-24psi.

Now i've got a GT2x and see 18psi all the way to 7500rpm !!

I had to replace the Engine Coolant Sensor today ...

Get this, the dealer wanted > £60 to plug in the computer and read the faults.

I said no, just replace the sensor and I'll take the gamble.

So - lets see what happens tomorrow!

Kind of invalidates my MPG trial though! Never mind - if the problem goes away I'll fill her up again with 97 and try again.

Well it wasn't the coolant temperature sensor!

On the way to work after about 10 miles of motorway just cut out.

Hard to get going again, eventually fired and then shuddered like f**k before cutting out again. Key off and on again and off she went perfectly for 50 miles!

This problem DEFINATELY only happens in the morning after she's been standing all night. After about 10 miles I get the problem and after that I reckon she'd run until she ran out of petrol without missing a beat.

On the way home, rarely happens ... possibly because I use the car at lunch time and the engine is still slightly warm?? Possibly because I crawl out of town in terrible traffic most nights? Where as in the morning it is half a mile to the motorway and then 80mph for 10 miles.

ideas????? I'm clean out of em!

One thing I did read about is a resistor that heats up when the engine is cold? The ECU turns it off after a certain time period? Reckon this could be anything to do with it? What is this resistor? I read about it on a Polo site.

Here is the link ...

i got 43mpg over a 200 mile trip form newbury to leeds, and that included driving through both town/city centres.

its easy to do, 75-80 on the motorway returns best fuel i found for mine, and aslong as your not using full beans anywhere its easy to keep up.

I submit!

have booked her into Midland VW a week on Tuesday. They only charge £25 for a diagnostics session.

The guy I spoke to sounded supremely confident that they'll find out what is going on.

Fingers crossed [and everything else!]

Just thought you'd all like to know that Midland VW have found that the Engine Speed Sensor if faulty ... should have gone which my hunch!

Part arrives tomorrow and should be back on the road tomorrow evening. £110 all in.

From my previous discussions with people on here, it seems this is now a common fault that is starting to 'rear its ugly head' as our cars are now getting older!

It also seems that it is easy to mistake it for a faulty coolant temperature sensor or MAF / TPS / Clutch Switch ......

SO WATCH OUT!!

No EPC light for this fault but it did log an intermittent fault on the ECU. Occasionally goes into limp mode too - again no EPC light.

I wish I'd had it looked at earlier - I had kittens last week when she cut out just as I pulled in front of a truck on the motorway :eek:/

I only get about 300 miles out of a tank in mine, that's on a 1.4 driven sensibly.

Pretty disappointing really.

I have just done two long trips, got to wales and back from walsall on £30.00 (so just under 300 miles) average 42.4 mpg on the comp, just went to butlins with a two passangers and bags and still got 38 mpg, i did 310 miles on just over £30.00, no need to refill - diddnt fill the tank.

Must be the way you nutters drive! - my mpgs definatly better since my remap....until i put my foot down!

Well lads [and lasses] that's it! Engine speed sensor replaced and she seems to be running perfect now ... at last!

Just need to update my signature now as she doesn't cut out any more!

Midland VW were very impressive. They quoted £120 for a major service on my 1.4 and told me the throttle body is full of crap and needs a clean out. This is usually £60 but when done with a service is £40!

Happy days!

I forgot to ask the bloke at Midland VW so here goes ...

If I get the throttle body cleaned out on my 1.4 is this as good as buying a new throttle body? Should it be good as new again ?
