Ipod Assistance PLEASE

Just got myself an apple ipod for my unit under the seat of my leon, but I can't get it to work through the head unit, anyone got any suggestions

Im assuming here that you mean the Dension ICE Link PLus that is fitted as the iPod connection option.
If you cannot select the CDC mode (CD Changer) by pressing the CD button twice then it could be a case of the dealer not connecting a particular wire to ground, I cannot remember which one (It happened to me and I did their work for them and found out) but if you read the installation manual (only a 2 sided pdf poster) from Dension's website it states clearly that missing a particular ground connection can cause issues.

I have a Jan 06 Leon Mk II, 1.6 Stylance. Someone told me that iPod preperation came as standard (what does 'preperation' even mean?) but I thought that this was an option (that I didn't have).

I can't work out which radio the car has either. It has a 6" screen at the bottom with buttons all round, buttons for the radio and integrated bluetooth in the steering wheel, and the climate control is on a panel above with a smaller screen and up/down buttons either side.

What should I be looking for to find out how to proceed? Any ideas guys? I've heard stories that cables can be found in the glovebox or under the seat, and that the type of radio gives a clue. Well, the manual just says "audio", so that's no help! And no mention of iPod or MP3 (apart from CDs) anywhere!

I'm sure some of the other will correct me if I'm wrong but I think there are 3 ways of linking devices to the standard stereo.

An AUX socket which is standard (not sure but think it is near the handbrake)

A USB or iPod connector as a factory fit option (which deletes the above). I have the iPod connector and it is under the drivers seat.

In addition there are 3rd party products avaliable.

I believe that you can link an iPod directly to the AUX socket to play it back through your stereo. Not sure if you need to link it via the headphone socket or an AUX out on the iPod though.

Thanks, Phil. I am pretty sure I do not have the aux or USB connector. There is a silver box under the drivers seat and a lockable door under the passenger seat. How could I identify whether the silver box is a iPod interface?

Failing that, I guess that leaves me with 3rd party products. How do I identify my radio type and what is the best (non radio transmitter) option for a sensible price?

if you dont have that seat fit an aftermarket one in the glove box, but theres plenty of people on here that have done their own.
