How can you get nearly 50 bhp just from a re-map? I find this hard to beleive, but I dont know a great deal about re-maps so can someone explain? I've been told my standard 156 bhp Cupra will have over 200 bhp once the re-map has been done, is that entirely true?

Yes it's true, search around and you'll find in depth answers and understand clearly!

Car comes from factory with fairly (very) conservative map on it. Remap updates these values to change air/fuel data and boost pressure (up to nearer 21psi often.

Think of it like overclocking a PC.... hardware is capable but the manufacturer has set it too run at a level that balances longevity and performance.

yes you can because you have a turbo (which respond more to remap than normally aspirated engines) and fundamentally have the same engine set up as the ibiza cupra R (180bhp as stock) and the leon cupra which are also 180 bhp as stock).

You will have the K03 turbo whereas later leon cupra have the K03s which gives slightly higher results.

For your car a simple remap should give you around 195 bhp. possibly 200.
The leons with the K03s may see 10bhp more.

The fact that these engines are also made at 180 bhp as stock means that mapping to near 200 bhp isnt going to have any significant effect on reliability.
(the leon cupra R runs at 225 stock on the same engine type but with a larger turbo).

Your almost trippling your boost with a remap, 7psi up to 21 possibly.

The beauty of turbo cars is they are very tunable:)

I managed around 40bhp increase.

Oh, and wait till you feel the difference. It will feel like a different car

I cant wait. The car is sitting there un-used until I get the ECU back, but while its there I'll be getting the strut brace and new coilovers fitted. It will literally be like driving completely different car, I cant fecking wait.

How much difference does a half decent exhaust make to these puppies?

Depends on whether you get a cat back system or turbo back.

I have a cat back system (scorpion) and didnt feel too much difference. Maybe a little more responsive but not much. But sound wise it made loads of difference. A lot louder & more beefy with loads of popping ;)

Pop, pop, pop  I love it:D

Its a twin pipe system so looks similar to the standard exhaust except the pipes a 3''. It doesnt look as good as the miltek system but what it fails on in looks it makes up for in sound.

I love it and wouldnt change it to be honest, Ive been to a few meets and the miltek certainly looks better than my scorpion.

Depends on what you want really, Miltek exhausts are quiet compared to the scorpion, just depends on what you are looking for.

I think I paid £280 for the cat back system

Might be worth you checking the meetings section and seeing if there are any meets going on local to you. That way you can see what other people have done to their cars and get an idea of what things look like in the flesh.

To be honest mate, I just want to keep it standard looking. Anything I can do to it to make it look as normal as I can but to increase the sound, performance and handling is what I want. I'm getting the standard 16's sprayed anthracite on Monday, so that wont look to flash. I'm not touching the body work, other than having it mopped by some nutty Russian my mate knows.

I cant wait till its done, I might sleep in it! Is it illegal to interfere with a car?

your likely to see 190bhp ish with a remap. SMIC gets hot, and without any other mods you probably wont see over 200bhp.

Seems some do some dont, but it all depends on how much the fella on the rolling road touches the brake pedal :p

Nice to see someone excited about their new toy. I've had mine 4 months & it still puts a smile on my face. BUT horse power is addictive & I am about to remap mine! COS I WANT MORE ;o)
