Urgent Help Needed!

Hi all,

Loads of problems with my 1.2 12v, the usual roll bar bushes, rear washers jets, window mechanism failure. The latest problem was engine stalling and stuttering in low revs. Took it to a reputable garage and they said it was the spark plugs or coil pack so I replaced them both. Just after the coil packs and spark plugs change I drove 12 miles then the battery light flashed and powering steering light came on, I lost all power steering (a mile from my home). Turned engine off and checked under bonnet all seemed ok, started engine and power steering back for about 300meters then the same fault. Got home safe but need car for work, any ideas on problem.

Thanks!!!

think it could be a steering rack sensor being loose, think there was a thread about it before. Try a search I do believe there is an answer on here somehwere, failing that wait till the bloke with the fault I am on about gives some input into this

Hi,

Garage diagnosed the problem, I carried out the work as it was only the spark plugs and coil packs. Could be a seperate issue but just after doing the work, I'm not sure? I've read the other threads and it could possibly be a sensor, doesn't seem like I can check the hydraulic fluid level (cant find it in manual or in engine bay). Maybe if I connect to Vag Com and diagnose will get more info.

Thanks

Sounds like your throttle body is clogged with carbon deposits which cause the revs to fluctuate and sometimes the car will cut out which if it did you would lose power steering until the car is restarted. Its easy to clean but you need the diagnosis computer to carry out a basic setting. Should be an hours charge at a Seat dealership

Would a loose alternator belt cause my powered steering to fail? when i turn engine off and back on again it regains powered steering, to me that says that the powered steering system is ok, unless its a sensor?
