1.9 TDI - 100 or 130????

I'm just looking up quotes for my new Ibiza I'll be picking up next weekend but put the registration into confused.com and was told it was the 100bhp version!!!

Most distressing as I've got the ad in front of me whihc clearly says it's a 1.9 TDI 130 sport ('04 plate), so I guess the question is how can I tell before I sign on the dotted line permanently??

think it is written on the timing belt and one has 6 gears one has 5 not completely sure though

We've just got a 1.9 Tdi Sport, and thats 100 brake.

My FR comes up as 100bhp on tesco insurance, and 130 on every other.

04 is before the FR and Cupra naming conventions, and it does have a 6 speed gear box...

Old Sport is now the FR, so 130bhp if it has 6 speed and I think, 6 dials in the instrument surround.

engine code should be ASZ, thats 130 bhp!
it should also have a six speed box
the red Di in the TDi badges also signifies a 130 bhp engine but as you can buy these at the dealers don't rely on these to clarify the engine spec!

it will be on the log book and if you lift the boot carpet, there is a sticker with the engine code and chassis number etc.

if it turns out it is only the 100bhp and its advertised as a 130, thats false advertising IMO, which gives you a way of cancelling the agreement made with the seller if you wish to do so

As above....look for the 6 speed box, TDI with red DI (the 100bhp version only has a red I) and if in doubt ring a dealer. They will stick the reg in their computer and tell you there and then.

To be honest, if you have test driven it you should be able to tell. The 100bhp version is 0-60 in about 11s and is quick enough without really throwing you back into the seat, whereas the 130 will have a real kick if you floor it.

The engine code isn't ASZ and I'll need to check on the red TDI lettering. It certainly has a 6 speed gearbox and had significantly more "oomph" than my 1.8 petrol focus....

As above check it has DI in red and 6 speed box - get a 130 mate they are awesome!

The 6-speed box is a dead giveaway for the 130 TDI. I'd be very surprised if it turns out not to be - I don't think the 6-speed box was fitted to anything else.
