Fuel Tank Capacity

What is the actual capacity of the 2.0TDI fuel tank? The book says 55 litres and mentions 7 litres reserve. Does that mean a total of 62 litres?

I only ask as the range figures on the onboard computer indicated zero miles left when there must have been at least another 3 litres in the tank. However when I filled up (at 601 miles since the last fill) I got 54.7 litres into the tank. Surely I did not have only 0.3 litres left!

I've had this too ! I've always assumed the tank is 55 litres, that what the specs say.

I've had 30 miles left, and the needle just above the red on the dial, yet it took 56 litres!

So i think you must be right with the 62 litre tank.

Most cars have reserve tanks but i presume its dependant on the manufacturer where this tank kicks in on your fuel gauge. My current car has a 60ltr tank and 7 reserve and one of the first times I filled it up I actually put 67ltrs in it.

On a similar note is there any way to stop the fuel refill warning going off when there is still 50 miles left according to the trip computer (25 to 30 miles would be better) and about a quarter of the tank according to the guage

Having recently played petrol bingo (fuel computer said 0 miles and I kept driving for a about 3 miles and ran out! ) I filled the tank from completely empty to full. It was just over 55 litres - so the total tank capacity must be 55 litres including any reserve.
