Well i finally got round to having my car remapped today, i decided to go and see pete at Bell Autos in York. I got down there this morning at about 9:30am. After meeting pete and having a chat and a cup of tea, he got started on my car.
He connected vag-com and checked all codes then tried to use OBD tuning to read the ecu, however this would not communicate due to the age of my car, so he had to remove the ecu and bench write it.
Once this was done he refitted it back to my car and we tested it, he set the boost fairly low at peak 16-17 psi then holding at 14 psi to redline. The car feels so much smoother and pulls very strongly, My custom FMIC was pushed pretty hard also as external temps were 21 degrees C and it maxed out at 37 degrees C inlet charge temp on a 3rd gear run to redline. I am thinking that the boost level is fairly low for my mods including k03s however im planning on getting it rolling roaded then might see pete when he gets his sorted to tweak it and increase the boost slightly.
For people with k03s's what boost level do you run?
Overall im happy with what ive got, the car feels like a new one and totally different and easier to drive, also i reset the trip computer on the way there and managed 38MPG average and same driving back home managed 42MPG average which i was very pleased with. Over all i would recommend bell autos to others petes a friendly bloke and knows his stuff.
