Teardrop mirrors?

Hi all

What do I need if I want the teardrop style? Is it just the "cap" or do I also need the "arm" the mirror is placed on?

And must I buy the mirrorglass seperately? Or do they come with the cap?

I know there have been some posts about this, but its not totally clear for me, whether I need the "arm" or just the cap

Best regards, Thomas, Denmark

You need the entire mirror. The mounting points are the same, but the rest of the mirror is different. I gave up trying to find a cheap matching pair so bought the Golf style ones instead.

Just make sure you get the same options as you have currently.... i.e. if your current mirrors are heated, electric and folding, make 110% sure that you get the same options on the new mirrors.

I'm getting better!

New job means I actually have to spend most of my working day, working. It's an unusual concept that's taking time to get used to  So most of my posting is after work or at weekends if I'm not out and about.

It's an illness this place... I'm convinced of it

... back on topic.

My friend has a mk4 golf gti aniversary and it has different mirrors to the std gti. May be worth taking a look at them too.

I got a full set of teardrop mirrors in Black Magic including fittings (Bolts etc) for £45 off Ebay a few weeks ago so it does pay to look around and wait for a bargin to come up.

If you go to a dealer you will be paying nearly £320 for a set of manual, non heated teardrop mirrors (mirror base, 2 primed caps, 2 mirror glass) and thats before the caps are painted.

Primed Leon teardrop mirror caps are £20 each

The Leon FR Matt Silver teardrop caps at £40 for the pair

Leon Chrome mirror caps (not for folding mirrors even though they are exactly the same as standard caps) £45 for the pair

Glass (non heated) is £28 each

Mirror base's are around £98 - £117 each for a manual version.

However. You can save a little bit of money as the parts from the 2006 Ibiza teardrop mirrors also fit the Leon teardrop mirror base.

Ibiza FR Matt Silver teardrop mirror caps are £6 each From Autoworld SEAT in Sheffield.

And the Teardrop mirror glass is £17 each. Also from Autoworld SEAT in Sheffield.
