Hi all, I hope someone can help with this one. My Cordoba has just started with the ABS warning light being on constantly but its not long been fitted with new discs and pads. Is there anything I can check and maybe fix or is it a garage job?

Thanks in advance

Mine does it intermittently, i would guess its probably a dirty sensor like on my car, take the wheels off locate the sensors and clean them up, see if this helps.

Otherwise you'll need to get it to a garage that can read the fault codes on the ABS computer.

or possibly a sensor been knocked or the wire split

abs light

have a look at this it tells you how to test your sensors.

http://www.topbuzz.co.uk/maintenance/testing_abs/testing_abs.htm

i used this info and found that my front left and back left sensor had gone.

Also have a look under the back seats, there is a connector that runs to the rear abs sensors which sometimes gets disconnected, chesck this first. I replaced the connector with a block connector just incase. This unfortunatly didn't help me but could help you.

If that doesn't work follow the instructions on the site above and this should solve the problem.

Also it could be that the sensor is dirty, you can clean it with warm water, and this may help.

to replace the sensor it costs around £30 each.

this is all you need to know, to solve the problem, if you are not comfortable working on your car take it to a garage.

Thanks for the info guys, as soon as it stops pouring it down here I'll remove my wheels and check the sensors as best as I can. Fingers crossed its just something simple.

Again, cheers guys

Has the light been on since the pads and discs were replaced? was it the front or rear discs? as the rear discs need the a.b.s speed sensor rings swapping over when replacing them as they dont have them on the new ones.

It turned out to be the rear passenger side sensor, I just had the garage do the work for me. They know what they are doing better than I do
