hi all, my first post on this forum.

since last friday i have been the proud owner of the rarest ibiza of them all, the cupra r. its an 02 plate in red and already i love it to bits. my plan is to keep it standard and mint, its too rare to mess with (except for the powerflow exhaust which the previous owner fitted).

it was a complete stroke of good fortune i even own this car, i work for a peugeot/mazda dealer in loughborough and was previously running a focus st170 which i had only had for 8 months and had no intention of getting rid of, then someone traded in the ibiza for a mazda 3 mps and i saw it and fell in love. i didnt even know they did an ibiza cupra r, then the salesman proceeded to tell me how rare it is and i was sold. annoyingly, i dont know what number mine is as the r keyring it comes with was present, but the numbers have fell off the back :(

it hasnt been the smoothest start to ownership, the next day after i took it home, the drivers window packed up in the down position so i had to resort to wedgingt he glass up with a block of wood, but im getting a new motor/regulator tomorrow which i will fit at work, and also the car intermitantly loses power. the p code reading i am getting refers to the air mass meter which according to my friend who works for audi, is a very common problem on this engine, so ill be getting one of them soon as well.

sorry for going on a bit but i like to make a bit of an introduction, not just "hi, im a n00b"

hope to enjoy the forum for a long time to come.

A little tip, try unplugging you MAF (Mass Air Flow meter) and then plugging it back in. You might find you get your power back, if not then obviously u will need a new one.

If you have to get a new one make sure you get it on exchange, it will be about £80 on exchange rather than £200 odd it costs new. :)

IMO I would have the ECU re-mapped, Ive done this on my cupra R. A remap will not affect the look of the car in anyway and you still keep the original ECU. A map will get you in the region of 200bhp maybe more and will pull so much more better and powerful. Torque will be much more healthy and it will be even better to drive:)

sounds good to me dan, thanks for the advice mate. ill prbably get it revo'd then. i fitted my new window motor today, thats all working again now, and ive got a MAF sensor on order which will be fitted tomorrow.

exhaust looks wrong!! needs a standard one on, or a milltek or supersprint!
